ELF Haul and Cheryl Lash Look

3 September 2009

Due to the recent ridiculous amount of Royal Mail strikes I was waiting ages for my order but I I finally received a big envelope full of stuff from ELF yesterday, but only came to £31! Elf products can be ordered here http://www.eyeslipsface.co.uk/

The two products that I am extremely happy with so far are the Studio Powder brush (above) and the Studio Complexion Brush (below).
These are the first ELF products I have ever used and the first non-mac brushes that I have used. I am extremely impressed with the studio brushes (I haven't yet tried the regular ones that I purchased). Each brush is only £3.50 which is a bargain considering the quality of them is excellent. The brushes are made of Taklon so are cruelty free and the handle is sturdy and a good length on both.
The powder brush is a flat top brush like a mini kabuki with a long handle and is is very soft. It looks pretty much like the picture on the website (sometimes things turn up and they look nothing like as good as on websites) and the bristles are flat and even. This one is for all types of powder, powder foundation or minerals. I have tried it with my mineral foundation and it really is simple to use and better at buffing it in than my Bare Escentuals kabuki which I think is because it is flat rather than rounded, also the bristles are really dense so you get a flawless finish.  You can also apparently use this wet to apply liquid foundation or to apply blush or highlighter, but I just plan to use it for loose powder or mineral foundation. I would recommend that you get this brush over any of the others as it is my fave, I might even buy a backup for £3.50!
The complexion brush is my second favourite, the bristles are not as densley packed so they are good for bright or dark blush or bronzer as it doesn't apply them too heavily, if you are using a pale colour I would use a denser brush.  This is even softer than the powder brush and is not scratchy at all.  I prefer my Mac blush brush but for £3.50 this is an excellent brush and a close second.
I will update with the professional brush reviews as I use them.
The next two products I don't like at all. The first product I tried was the nailvarnish in Champagne.  The picture to the left below is mine, the right is the website pic.  This nailvarnish is awful!  After 2 coats the colour was still barely there and what was visible was totally streaky.  It took ages to dry and the bottle isn't even the same as it is advertised with the cute drip style at the top.  I would steer clear of this colour, I also ordered Burgundy so I will see if that's any better.

The other product which is rubbish is the eyelash curler which I bought to replace the Mister Mascara one I currently have, but the ELF one doesn't curl the lashes at all and is therefore completely useless. Do not bother with that!

Cheryl - Girls Aloud Lashes

These are wicked! I love them, super sexy.
The glue they came with was a bit weird, it dried so quick (a lot quicker than any other eyelash glue I have ever used) so I had to put some more on and it took 2 goes to stick them on. Derr I need some practice!

I tried them on with MeMeMe colourama cream eyeshadow in the pink shade (which actually does last the 8 hours it claims to) and Mac black fluidline on the top lid and Barry M white kohl on the lower waterline.  I had my eyebrows threaded at Glow in House of Fraser yesterday and THANK GOD these girls are a miracle go check it out Glow Beauty Bar.

Everyone is talking about ELF.. i am trying to resist making a purchase until I have read a few more reviews. Styaing clear of the nail polish!

I had my eyebrows threading at Blink. I love the finish, bi=ut I do worry that they might take too much off. Imagine if the sneezed or something!!

I should blog on my threading experience soon.

I've got the ELF Champagne nail colour too. I was really excited coz the colour on the site looks so pretty, but I was a bit dissapointed too. I did 3 coats on my toe nails and a top coat and it looked 'okay' but not what I was expecting!

@B I know I was so dissapointed, I tried the dark purple last night and it has already chipped. I think they are one to avoid.
