Korres Quince Body Butter and Marks & Spencer Lemon Body Butter Reviews

12 October 2009

For great looking skin on your body the most important thing that you can do is to moisturise moisturise moisturise. Exfoliating and fake tanning are also important but neither of them do much if your skin is dry and scaly.

For my body I always use a thick body butter rather than a lotion or cream and sometimes I use an oil on scars and stretchmarks underneath the body butter. The only oil I use is Bio Oil but I have 2 favourite body butters one new one old, depending on what scent I feel like.

My faves are:

Marks and Spencer Body Butter in either shea nut, lemon or coconut £6.00 for 200ml (they sometimes do deals like buy 2 get one free)

Korres Quince Body Butter £11.50

They each have their benefits and I like them about the same.  They are the best of the loads that I have tried (Soap and Glory, Clinique, Dove, Nivea, Garnier, Body Shop, The Sanctuary and on and on) for reasons which I will explain.

The Marks and Spencer

I choose this over the Body Shop butter as in my opinion they are almost identical in how they work and the consistency (I think the M&S ones smell better) and these are half the price of the Body Shop ones so I don't see the point paying more for the same product! The consistency is so thick and creamy and whichever scent you smell it is exactly like it is supposed to be, the lemon smells just like a sherbet lemon and the coconut is sooo yumm. It glides on easily and absorbs quickly especially if you use it on damp skin after the shower or bath. The BF has commented a few times mmm you smell of lemon or mmmm you smell all coconutty so if someone who doesn't even know which moisturiser I am using can guess the smell then they must be a good match. You really notice a difference in the softness of your skin when you use these and they are a bargain. The packaging is cute and simple and it doesn't reflect how cheap the product is at all.

Korres

This is around the same price as a Soap and Glory and a Body Shop, the quality is far superior.
As per the package description it’s very fruity and a tiny bit spicy! I also find it has a slightly floral  undertone As dodgy as that explanation is, it really smells gorgeous.

The packaging is a blessing in that you don't have to dig in your fingers and scrape out a blob as it is in a handy pump tube which is great when you are in a rush or when you need both hands to apply the cream however this obviously means that when you get near the end you can't get every last bit of product out, but it is much better germ wise to have a pump action dispenser.

The consistency is slightly thinner than the M&S one. It sinks in a bit quicker too so I prefer this for in the morning rather than the M&S one especially if I am in a rush as I always put a body butter on my feet before putting tights on to stop me from getting blisters or snags in my tights (I don't know if this is a tip...it might help you)! As with other Korres products there are no parabens, silicone, no mineral oil and it is proplylene glycol and ethanolamine free (do we actually know what glycon and ethanolamine are.....they sounds like transformer robot names)? This product also contains shea butter and avocado oil and I find that of all the body butters I have used the ones with shea butter in work the best.

So as I say, this is only my opinion but for me these are the best in the bunch, either would be great to give as a Christmas gift or stocking filler as sometimes you need to bulk up larger gifts with a few little extras and I don't think anyone could find anything to dislike about these products.

Unfortunately I can't use any today as I just had a spray tan so I look pretty amusing now with my far too dark skin until the morning when I can wash off the guide colour lol!

I don't think I've ever looked in M&S for beauty things. That lemon butter sounds lovely, must get in there and have a looksie! x

Lu, they have a lot of nice stuff if you navigate around the dodgy magnolia and rose scented stuff they have a couple of ranges that are good for the under 60 hehe! Tess Daly is also doing a range for them which will be released soon. xx

Ooh, I love Korres body butters! I own Guava and Quince, and they both do wonders for my skin, but the one I prefer is actually the Quince as it smells heavenly! It's like being in a candy shop, every time I sniff it! As for GWP (from previous post)...in Italy it's not something they do, unfortunately, but they do almost always give you plenty of samples, so I suppose that's better than nothing :-)! xx

@Anna - that it a shame about the GWP, but I suppose if it's all over Italy there isn't anything you can do...booo maybe email estee lauder and complain as it isn't fair for some countries to have it and others can't.
