Foxy Locks Hair Extensions Review & New Hair Colour

Around a week ago this was my hair colour and style

And this is my new hair colour and cut after visiting what I can say is the absolute fantastic salon, they were so nice to me and did exactly what I asked for - how often does that happen? I got it done here for anyone interested The Lounge

The black was stripped from the ends and then a flatter, less red/more brown colour was applied all over (semi permanent) so that the roots and the ends are the same colour, it does still have a slight reddish tinge but that's ok I just didn't want black red hair as I am too pale to pull it off.

I really like it and I think it looks a lot less harsh especially in natural daylight, apologies for the pics above but as it's so dark here in the UK it's been really hard to take pics, the ones above are taken in the daytime with a daylight bulb lamp pointed straight at my face and even with that on the room is still dingy. Bring on Spring!  So apologies there is no video yet to go with this but I tried yesterday and it was so dark I looked like I was in a cave!

My hair was also given a tiny trim and a sort-of fringe just to make it a bit softer and pretty.  I also explained that I wanted to use my new Foxy Locks Hair Extensions with my new hairdo so instead of blunt cutting she did some sort of fancy thing around the bottom which means the extensions will blend better apparently!  I think they blend quite well but I want to have her trim around 2 inches off the extensions so I am going to take them with me next time I go to the salon.

I have no idea why I look so dazed and confused!
Necklace is from David Aubrey at accessories online

This pic shows my normal hair plus the extensions
I don't think it is obvious where they start is it do you?

So here's my review of the Foxy Locks 20 Inch 120g Clip In Hair Extensions

The extensions were purchased online here Foxylocks website

Price £52.00 for the 120g
(I bought this as it is recommended for those with fine hair and my hair couldn't be any finer)!  The 160g would be perfect for someone for example like Jo (erm hope you don't mind being my example!) looking good babe! who has longer hair that is thicker than mine.

Delivery - even thought it was over the Christmas period I recieved my hair extensions from Imogen in a lovely bright pink envelope on the 23rd December, so had I wanted to wear these for Christmas I would have been able to, it only took a day or two for them to arrive.

Thickness - now mine are only the 120g and you can also get the 160g but these are soo thick, they are almost double the thickness of the American Dream ones I have from Sally's. In fact they make those look so bad I threw them in the bin haha!  The Foxy Locks ones are seriously so thick and soft and silky, if you look at the videos that Imogen from foxy locks does on Youtube you can really see how thick they are on the screen, she isn't making it up they really are that thick, in fact they make my own hair look rubbish in comparison!  You can see her videos here, I still use the 'how to' one on how to clip them is as I am not that good at it yet.

Colour - if you need advice on which colour to buy like I did then you can email through the foxylocks website and send a picture of your hair and Imogen will advise.  Unfortunately my hair was so much darker at the ends than the roots that I had to have the ends stripped of colour at the hairdresser to match but that was my fault I mean how could I have not realised that my hair was darker at the ends, I must be completely oblivious!   So I would definitely recommend taking a closeup pic of your hair and emailing it to Imogen on her website if you need help colour picking.

Clips  - the clips are different to the ones on my other extensions as they have a silicone strip under the hairclip so your hair can't just slide through it is stuck there in the clip, this is so important for those of us with fine and limp hair as if I put a bobby pin or kirby grip in my hair sometimes it slides out as my hair is so fine so the silicone strip idea is really good as it totally prevents that happening.  The last thing you want is to put your extensions in then have them drift out while you are at a club or at dinner and your extensions ends up in your meal!

Easiness of use - I personally find any extensions quite difficult to put in and blend.  I think this is because my hair isn't really that long, and as it is so fine I can't put them that far up my head that it covers the shortness of my own hair because then I can feel the bumps of the clips and you can see them, not because they are big or anything this was exactly the same with the other brand ones I had it's just me and my hair/head lol! Also due to the thickness of the wefts of hair I have to put a large amount of my own hair over the top to cover the join otherwise it is really obvious.  This isn't as much of a problem with Foxy Locks as it was with the other ones as I can use less wefts and have them further down my head and because they are so thick they don't look stringly even though I can't fit all of the wefts on my head.  I also like that this comes with 4 wefts with just 1 clip, these are really inconspicuous and I can fit them in where I have a little bit more hair to disguise them.  You also get 2 x 4 clip wefts, 2x 2 clip and 2x 3clip so there are plenty.

These extensions from foxylocks are much better than any other extensions that I have used and they are easy to wash and dry and style as they are human hair and lovely silky remy hair at that, which I believe to mean 'cuticle correct'.

I would definitely recommend practising with your extensions before going out in them as I am still not at the point where I find extensions easy to put in, so if you watch the videos and do them step by step with Imogen it is a whole lot easier than randomly trying to work it out for yourself.

Has anyone else got clip extensions? Which ones do you use?

You look great Sarah! The extensions look totally natural, i'm amazed! I'd love to try extensions, but I just think they'd be such a pain in the bum to put in everyday, and they probably wouldn't look right on me, heh.

and also i'm in LOVE with your necklace! I'm def going to the website you posted that it's from after i'm done typing this!

Oh and I loved being your example haha, felt kinda famous! lmao.

Love ya babe.

@Caitlin- the necklace isn't that expensive either which is nice! Some things on that website are so expensive but I love everything!

@Computergirl - thank hun

@Jo - if you can get away with the 160g then personally I would get them, I just don't have enough hair to cover them but I wish I did xx

That looks great on you! If you are worried about how natural the extensions will look, you should try the Pro Premier Volumizer products http://www.salonhive.com/hair-extensions I've tried many different kind of extensions through the years, and these are hands down my favorite - they look gorgeous, I get so many compliments on my look and they completely blend in with my own hair!

WARNING!! STAY WELL CLEAR OF FOXYSHIT EXTENSIONS!! i waited 3 weeks for them to arrive and when they did i was really unimpressed, they are so thin on the ends im going to need to cut 3 inchs off them to make them look tidy and the quility is so so so bad! and make sure you weigh them cos a friend told me to do it and when i did they weighd 10g under and thats with the clips on, sorry if i sound so harsh but im so dam FRUSTRATED with them!!!!!!

I wouldn't go as far as the last commenter as I found the quality of Foxy Locks really good.

I did find packs underweight at times. Also, the colours often don't match so if you buy more than one of the same colour beware of this if you need them to match.

Also, customer service is severely lacking and you can wait up to a week for a reply & a month to receive replacement items when Foxy Locks makes a mistake.

It look as though they are the best quality extensions you can get. I'm gonna have to treat myself!! x x

i was really disappointed with foxy locks. i've got shortish thick hair and they didn't live up to the hype at all. i had a nightmare with the international shipping and when i finally got them they looked ridiculous. i got the deluxe set and there was nowhere near enough hair. the quality didn't compare to my current extensions at all and i had to wear another set mixed in with them to make my hair look natural. absolutely gutted because i thought they'd be my holy grail extensions! seeing all the amazing reviews makes me wonder if i got a dud packet or what though :\

your hair looks lovely though
