As soon as I put this on I was reminded of that song "Sweets for my sweet, sugar for my hoo-ney"!
The Spring Collection by Mavala is called the Belle Collection and here is a picture of all of the shades in the new collection.
Shades from left to right – Violette, Vitality, Wichita, Sweet, Via Venetto and Berlin. £3.95 each
Stockists: John Lewis and other department stores or their website is here
I was given the colour Sweet in my blogger goody bag last week. First of all I thought it was a dupe for the popular Mac nail varnish Coconut Ice but I realise after looking at the pictures on Temptalia that it is similar but not as bright.
I really like the small bottle as it was so easy to hold and paint, I have quite small hands and nails so it made things easy, I did find it hard getting the top unscrewed at first though - so my tip is to use a rubber glove to open it if you are finding it difficult as that worked a treat.
This is my nails after two coats and the glorious Seche Vite topcoat. Considering my nails were butchered beyond belief on the 25th December I think they are doing pretty well? Let me know what you think? I almost swim in a vat of handcream and cuticle butter daily.
Anyway back to the polish. This is the first mavala polish that I have used in a very long time, my mum insists that she used to paint my nails with hers and that she used to use them years ago but I honestly can't remember, she wants this one now though as well so I doubt this will remain in my posession very long as she will 'borrow it' and it will mysteriously dissapear.
As you can see from above it took two coats to achieve the colour in the bottle which is good for me, I rarely find a opaque pale polish that does it in 1 coat and most colours take two. As you can also see from the above I no longer have acrylics. I want to cry.
I was impressed by the formulation and I imagine it won't go gloopy or thick as it is so small although you can apparently get 10 manicures out of it which is why it is a cheap price. To be honest though how many times have I worn 1 colour of nail polish? I doubt very much that I have used most of my polishes 10 times.
I would definitely repurchase other colours from Mavala and from this range I have my eye on Berlin but I just have to wait until they have it in stock at my local John Lewis.
Anyone else got any loves/hates from Mavala? I hear fantastic things about their Scientifique polish/treatment but still cannot find one at JL. In fact John Lewis why in god's name do you never have ANYTHING useful in stock? Hmm?
