Amie Skincare Morning Dew Matte Finish Moisturiser - Review

12 March 2010

Hello Ladies!

I'm DaisyBee from over at DaisyBeeBeauty and the lovely Sarah has very kindly allowed me to invade her blog as today’s guest blogger.  The product I am going to be reviewing for you today is Amie's Morning Dew Matte Finish Moisturiser pictured below. I have been using the moistuiser every morning for almost three weeks now (and I'm definitely going to continue using it!) so (hopefully!) I can give you a really thorough review of what it is like.

The Amie skincare range has been developed specifically for young and teenage skin. After doing a bit of background reading before I started using the moisturiser I was really pleased to find that not only is the range centered on natural plant and botanical ingredients, but all the products are free from parabens, mineral oils and petrochemicals. The Amie website has a detailed breakdown of the ingredients in their products which I found really helpful, as my skin is extremely sensitive and I am always pretty cautious about trying new things.

Firstly here's how Amie describe the morning dew matte finish moisturiser: "Morning Dew is a really light daily moisturiser that’s totally mineral oil-free and parabens-free. Quickly and easily absorbed into the skin, it gives skin all the hydration it needs while controlling shine and leaving a smooth, matte finish that’s a perfect base for make-up or facing the day or night ‘au naturel’!  Harmonising natural actives – organic rosehip and bilberry nourish, natural plant sugars hydrate and Vitamin E acts as an anti-oxidant protecting against sun damage and pollution. Lemon Fruit Extract acts as an effective antiseptic whilst Orange Blossom is an excellent skin clarifying agent, helping to remove excess sebum and keep oily skin clear."

So, what do I think?
This moisturiser has fast become one of my everyday essentials. It has a lovely lightweight texture which soaks into the skin quickly and leaves it feeling super soft. One of the things I really love about this product is that if I'm in a hurry I know I can apply this and not have to hang around waiting for it to sink in. It dries to a smooth matte finish making it a perfect base for makeup. Although I do not suffer with particularly oily skin, around midday my skin can sometimes start to look a little greasy. Whilst using this product, I have noticed that my skin stays matte for longer and I need less makeup top ups :-)

Another great thing about this moisturiser is that a little goes a long way. I find that a 20p sized amount is sufficient to cover my skin, and then I will sometimes use a little extra if I am experiencing any dry areas. The style of the tube means it is easy to control how much of the product you use, and as it is clear you always know how much you have left (opaque containers where you can't see the amount of product you have left is a bit of a pet hate of mine!). This moisturiser also smells just like its name - Morning Dew - Lovely and fresh to help wake up any sleepy heads!

And the cons?
The only problem I have with this product is that it does not leave my skin feeling as hydrated as my usual moisturisers. If you like a rich, luxurious feel to your moisturisers this product is probably not for you. Although this does leave my skin feeling moisturised for the majority of the day, I do not think it is quite as long lasting as some of the other products on the market.

Overall I have really enjoyed using this product, and I will definitely go out and buy a replacement when this tube runs out! 4/5 and a thumbs up from me.

Massive thanks to Daisy - you can check out her own rather gorgeous blog here daisybeebeauty

Anything organic is a yes yes to me. Nothing can beat a product that not only gives fresh result but is also a friend to the environment.
