Sienna X Fake Tan Range Review - It's Barbie Pink!

You can purchase Sienna-X tanning products at: sienna-x or try and win some in their competition

Although this tanning line isn't as famous as many others I wasn't going to discount it, since I have had a Sienna-X salon spray tan before and really loved the colour and the coconut scent. Celebrities who use this product include Rachel Stevens, Strictly come dancing's Brendan Cole and Lisa Snowdon.

I did a little research and found that Sienna X tanning products do not test on animals, are paraben free, use 100% natural ingredients and try to use UK suppliers wherever possible to support the economy (!).

I will be reviewing

Exquisitely soft body polish
Express yourself tanning mist
Extend and perfect gradual tan
Exceptional radiance moisturising balm

All the pre and post tanning products come in fuchsia pink squeezy tubes and the tan itself comes in a silver aerosol can. The packaging is clean and functional and easy to use, and I like that it is girly and pink, for example Xen Tan, St Moriz and St Tropez packaging isn't exactly that interesting - obviously this makes no difference to the product but it is still nice to decorate your bathroom shelf with something you like. The only problem this might pose is that the gradual tanner and the moisturiser look the same from far-away although they are all clearly labelled the style and colour of the bottle are identical.

Exquisitely soft body polish 200ml RRP £10.95

The smell of this scrub is amazing,  fruity grapefruit and sweet orange essential oils mixed with gorgeous pomegranate, kiwi and walnut scrubby bits polish away dead skin cells, leaving you with soft smooth skin.
Texture - This is a lovely and moisturising scrub and I did not get any tight or dry feeling skin after using it. I found the squeezy bottle packaging really easy to use and the thick white base of the exfoliator was super creamy and rich.

Personally I love that this is very very creamy and moisturising but I prefer something a bit more rough. This still gave me a smooth and even application but I think this could  use  a few more 'scrubby' bits in it to make is extra exfoliating.

Express Yourself Tanning Mist 150ml for £14.95

I have now used the entire bottle of this - I got a bit carried away and applied it every other day! It dries so quickly it's really easy to do with this product. Although I am sure people at work think it bizarre that I have spent most of the last 2 weeks looking like I just got back from holiday when it's so cold.

I christen these, my tanning pants!

Application - This is really easy to apply as it isn't in a pump action spray it has an aerosol like a spray deodorant which gives a really fine Mist. I found this super duper easy to apply to my body it was even fairly easy to apply to my back as you can just lean forward and spray the tan slightly into the air and let it mist down onto your back. I didn't particularly like applying it to my face as the suggested way is to use a sponge, but It was a bit difficult so I tried spraying it onto my face and I did end up inhaling a little bit of tan (I am currently alive so I doubt it has done any damage)! The spray can be used upside down or any which way so you can lean round and get the backs of your legs or your feet and it doesn't stop the flow of the tan at all which is good.

Colour - I find the end result colour really natural and (if this makes any sense) similar to a Mediterranean shade. I am not sure if this is because it contains 8% DHA (the stuff that turns your skin the tanned colour) or not as I found it difficult to find out how much DHA other tanners use. The only difference I noticed between the salon spray tan and the home spray tan was that the guide colour wasn't t quite as dark with the home tan which I actually much prefer as I was the colour of a mahogany table at the salon!

Scent - The scent of the tan upon application is of coconuts - much like when I had a salon spray tan using this product however the aerosol can make the tan smell a little aerosol-y upon application. Which I suppose is the trade off for it being a in such a convenient spray can, it goes after a minute or so.
Develops - in 2-4 hours rather than having to wear overnight. How many times have you been invited on a night out and needed to tan before going? This is perfect for if you haven't got long before you go out.  I would say each application lasts a good 5 days which seems good to me, it is also really quick and easy to touch up the more 'worn' areas like hands and face with a quick spritz before you leave the house in the morning as it dries so quickly.
Pretty natural, no dodgy orange bits!

Issues - the only issue I had was that it is quite easy to be over zealous with the tan so I would suggest a light coat, as if you apply too much it is just wasted.

Extend and Perfect Gradual Tan 200 ml £14.95

A rich moisturiser with includes an anti-cellulite formula. The fragrance is coconut vanilla. Omg how delicious! The cream contains 4% DHA and as I mention above the normal fake tanner is 8% DHA so its half the strength (I am so good at maths). This is really the only product I didn't get along with. It is a lovely moisturiser and very creamy and delicious smelling, but it took quite a while to sink in and was a bit hard to rub into my legs so I was a bit patchy. I much much much prefer the actual fake tanner to the gradual tan.

All of the bottles are very secure, you could travel with these easily with no spills

Exceptional radiance moisturising balm 200ml RRP 10.95

This is hands down my favourite item in the range and my favourite product like this I have ever used.

Application - This isn't just a random moisturiser that is used for making the skin less parched, this balm is shot through with the finest and least tacky looking gold mica. It doesn't make you look glittery or disco-ball ish but over the fake tan just enhances the glow and makes your skin look amazing. It did make me sad my skin doesn't always look like that! It is a balm so thicker than a lotion and not as thick as a butter.

Usage -This is not something that I would use everyday but more something I would use on my legs in the summer, for the evening on holiday to give a luminious sheet and highlight the skin.  In the summer this will be fantastic and it is so subtle it just gives you fantastic skin, rather than looking like you are using a great product and it is absolutely not glittery.

Brilliant - You don't have to use a separate moisturiser as it is really moisturising and leaves my skin soft and silky (which no doubt is down to the shea butter, coconut oil, sweet almond oil and vitamin E) and the sheen comes from the flecks of gold mica which is the same sort of thing that is used to make loose powder eyeshadows.

The moisturiser is non greasy and sinks in very quickly and the fragrance ...all I can think of is that it smells like a dessert. I will definitely repurchase this as it is brilliant. Whichever brand of false tanner you use I think this can really enhance it or if you are naturally Mediterranean or olive skinned I bet this would look really flattering. I think this would be really good for someone getting married as it would look gorgeous against a wedding dress and the shimmer didn't transfer.

Verdict on Sienna-X

Overall I have been really impressed by most of the Sienna X home tanning products, the stand-outs for me are definitely the exceptional radiance moisturising balm and the express yourself tanning mist. The prices are around £5 cheaper than comparable ranges out there so that's impressive. Most decent tanning ranges have the tanner prices at £20-£25 and this is much more competitive. I adore the exceptional radiance moisturising balm and I will buy this again when it runs out.

All Products kindly sent to me by Sienna-X's PR.

I was also very kindly sent the body wash but due to my allergies couldn't try it out. Matt very kindly used it in the shower despite it's fuchsia packaging and said he thought it cleaned well and smelled 'nice for girls' so...thats sooo helpful (not) thanks Matt for your sparkling review..I notice that you haven't actually given it back to me yet either mate so much for it being for girls!

I was inspired by the lovely pink packaging this week and have been using a lot of another of my Eve Pearl goodies from IMATS London.  The delectably named Foreplay lipgloss!

Isn't that such a gorge colour? It tastes like juicy fruit chewing gum!

With the aerosol, did you have to rub the product in after spraying? I always find it totally pointless when you have to do that!
