Prior to being sent the Ormonde Jayne discovery set I had never actually heard of the brand. I received these last Tuesday and have gone through using them each day since.
Ormonde Jayne is an exclusive perfume brand that creates all of it's perfumes in their London laboratory. The shop is in Old Bond Street which is my absolute favourite place in the entire word (Chanel and Louis, Cartier and De Beers need I say more) and you can purchase online at their website ormonde jayne
I was sent the discovery set which contains mini vials of each of their popular eau de parfum's along with a leaflet to describe each scent.
Let's be honest, a perfume brand you've never heard of...obviously I was rather suspicious.
But this little set contains quite a few perfumes that are actually really gorgeous, obviously I don't like them all, and the men's one did me no favours! But I was really impressed. I will say that these are quite strong and most have notes of musk so if you prefer something light then these aren't for you.
The Perfumes Are:
Frangipani - I love this, so girly and smells really expensive, I imagine someone who looks like Salma Hayek would wear this for some reason...it invokes a mental image of her!
Champaca - This is my favourite, top notes of pink pepper, neroli and bamboo die down to laeve champaca (an orange flower from India), freesia and basmatie with a strong musk base note and notes of green tea and myrr. Or if you have my sense of smell it's like neroli, orange flower water, musk and green tea and smells fresh, sexy and classy, sort of like a souped up version of the Hugo Boss orange so more for night time than day.
Isfarkand - this is really not very 'Sarah' it smells like black pepper on me! Perhaps I should slap some salt on as well... fail
Sampaquita - a gorgeous summer fragrance with notes of magnolia, grass oil and lychee with musk as most of the fragrances contain, Sampaquita flowers are the national flower of the Phillipines if you want a bit of trivia!
Tolu - this is one I wasn't too sure of, it's a woody oriental type of scent with notes of sage, orchid, Moroccan rose and tonka bean (what on earth is a tonka bean)....
Ormonde Woman - notes of black hemlock absolute with cardamon, coriander, grass oil, violet, jasmine and sandalwood. This is described as a hypnotic fragrance and I totally agree, pretty heady but for lovers of a strong perfume this is gorge
Ormonde Man - this is a definite man's man fragrance, sophisticated and classy - I can imagine James Bond would like it! Base notes are Sandalwood and Musk with notes of juniper, bergamot, and black hemlock. Mmm sexy!
Zizan - another men's fragrance but this is a younger man's scent in my opinion, more fresh and fruity with notes of Sicilian lime, Matt much preferred this one.
Orris Noir - This is my second favourite, sexy and hypnotising this is very strong, a sort of Arabian princess perfume if you get what I mean! The base notes of myrr, incense, patchouli are complimented with the top note of Davana to make it really a POW perfume, it really hits you pretty hard. If you like only light girly scents this isn't for you.
Osmanthus - a lovely spring perfume, lots of jasmine and citrus notes, I think most people would like this as it is very universal.
Tiare - another floral, described on their website as this is a perfume that totally ignores seasons and the time of day, a perfume so artfully blended and infinitely refined... but with a dash of scintillating appeal, I don't think I can add anything better than that!
Each bottle of 50ml eau de perfume is £68 which is fairly expensive for a perfume but don't think it is expensive if you consider the quality, the scents also linger for such a along time that you wouldn't need to keep reapplying.
These perfumes are pure quality and so luxurious.. They don't smell like the more mainstream type of fragrance they are heavier and more complex, the nearest I can think of is more of a glamorous scent and my friend Sam (a perfume lover from work) and myself likened these to Chanel. They are so classy and sophisticated. I would definitely purchase the box of 4 handbag sized vials which is much more economical and handy.
If you are near Bond Street I would recommend taking a look at this shop, you could always go and have a sniff and see if there is anything you like.

I will defo visit the shop when am in Bond Street :)
This shop is one of my favourites too. The good news is Ormonde Jayne has just opened a boutique in Sloane Square and it's truly stunning. I was there last week getting a 'perfume portrait' which was great fun. You must visit.
