Bumpits Review - I am not sure about this one....

Bumpits are a new product (to the UK - you have been able to get them in the US for a while) basically designed to help you pouff up your hair into either a mini beehive or just to make your hair look like it has more volume without having to backcomb which is damaging and causes split ends if you do it a lot.

In the UK these are sold via JML and can be purchased from Asda, Boots and Superdrug, JML sent me this one to test.

How much? £9.99

What do they look like?

Are they easy to use?

Bumpits are a self gripping hair accessory which you insert under your hair with the flat part flush against your scalp and the arrange the hair and evenly distribute it over the top of the bumpit to hide it. Spray on a bit of hairspray and it's done.

Apparently these are suitable for everyday use but I would feel a bit silly using it in the office...definitely more for a night out or if you have a more glam job than mine. Apparently they are a favourite with celebrity hairdresser Andrew Barton as well.

So the before and after
Everyday hair

I think you can see the plastic a bit?

Conehead?

So what do you think? (you can say conehead if you want :P )

I have them and although they look pretty if you do it right its to much effort for me and having a plastic thing in my hair freaks me out! :P

@superficialgirl - your hair looks lovely and thick though, you probably don't even need one, your hair is gorgeous. My hair is so thin you can see the plastic through so kind of defeats the object...and I used the small one!

Looking at the photo from the back, it looks so lovely! On the side...not so much. Youre right, it does look cone-ish. I purchased those here but ive only used them once because the plastic spikes were poking through in an obvious manner.

I got a fake version of these from Poundland, they were only £1 (obv) so I thought I'd try them out. They are pretty much the same as the JML ones, doesnt come with a comb though.
I really can't use them though. My head shape, or just how they're are made, makes them sit lower than I'd like it too. There fore I have a beehive at the back of my head instead of near the top.

I can do a pretty good bouffant without bumpit's but I bought them and I find I can't cover the plastic either! Drives me nuts as I think its a good concept. I'm not sure if you put your hair up to help it stay in place, but that's what I did because I thought it was going to fall out otherwise lol

I bought these so I wouldn't have to backcomb my hair as much however I end up having to backcomb my hair just as much because you could always see the plastic through my hair :(

I love how it looks in the picture from the back. I had the same problem. I liked it from the front and back, but from the side it looked weird. Like a lump in the back of my head? Same problem. I thought it was just the shape of my head. But I guess you have to tease it more in the front. Its too much work. lol

they certainly came in handy for a Jersey Shore themed party I went to

Are JML taking the piss - £9.99? You can get these way cheaper on Ebay, even the genuine ones. I had some, but yeah they made me conehead too, soo they ended up in the bin after a few goes. I have really thick hair too, but you could still see them through it.

I personally would never buy this because i already have masses of thick hair and a huge head - I don't want to exaggerate its shape even more! It might be a different story if you have fine hair though.

Hey :)
I have some of these but I got them from Poundland. To be honest I'm glad I didn't pay £9.99 for them. The plastic teeth really dug into my head and you could see my the teeth even when my hair covered it. I tried so many times to master the art of using them but sadly had no luck :( x

@Swtest2Lips
Haha I will have to walk backwards!

@steph0188 I didn't even realise they had a £1 version, makes a tenner seem a bit much really.

@emily☆ it really dug in my head as well!

@Carrsky I agree totally x

Natalie maybe my head is too small...

@Kelsey lol jersey shore party would be brilliant!

@missy_ellie_uk I had no idea there was a £1 version!

@Rebecca ah i have fine hair and it didn't work either

I quite like the overall look, but i couldn't be bothered with the arranging every day, my hair is way too thin to be able to pull this off. Do they come in diffeernt colours?
