Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends Range Review

The Beautiful Ends range is the newest addition to the Herbal Essences brand (in the UK).  It has a different name in the US (relationship range?) but they are the same products.

I am very picky with my hair products now that it has finally started growing.  Before blogging I didn't really take much care of if (I realise now) but now I know how fragile it is I really want to keep it long and sleek.  I am not the sort of person to use up an entire shampoo and conditioner unless it is a keeper, everything that does not meet my standard is donated to Matt's bathroom drawer for him to use (standards are significantly lower when you have 2 inches of hair)!

I tested these products for 3 weeks and used the deep conditioner twice a week. My hair is dry, coloured and has split ends so the range is a good match as it is to keep your hair long and protects from split ends.

Shampoo - £1.99 for 200ml

Herbal Essences say "split end protection shampoo : it'll help protect your hair against split ends and breakage. It'll give you top tips for mid to long hair".

I say - The shampoo contains silk extracts and smells of raspberry sweeties.  The consistency is very creamy ...like a fabric conditioner consistency!  I absolutely love this smell (the whole range smells like this) and it really lingers.  I only shampoo once before I condition which gets my hair very clean and the foam was easy to rinse out.  I didn't get that super dry feeling as soon as it was rinsed out either my hair felt pretty soft.  For info - I wash my hair every other day and my hair is never greasy as it's so dry, so I can't really comment on how it would perform if you had greasy hair as it's so moisturisng.

Conditioner £1.99 for 200ml

The conditioner is the same colour and scent as the shampoo but the consistency is quite thick, much like a pantene conditioner.  The thicker the better in my opinion as once you apply it to your hair it stays on, with watery conditioners they often start to drip down your back and I hate that feeling! I apply to my hair from root to tip, if your hair isn't as dry just stick to the ends and hair below your ears.  I leave it on for 2-3 minutes to do it's work and once I washed it out my hair feels super soft and smooth. It makes my hair really sleek and my hair also feels less frizzy than it has in the past.

Leave-In Cream £4.99 for 150ml

Herbal Essences say "Beautiful Ends Split End Protection Cream Red Raspberry & Silk helps protect your hair against split ends and breakage."

I say - I love these type of hair moisturising products for your ends, I have quite a few from all different ranges and to be honest they are all pretty similar.  This one has the consistency of a facial moisturiser and smells of the same raspberry sweets.  You only need to use a pea sized amount, rub it between your hands and then rub it onto the ends of your hair to keep them moisturised.  I do this on damp hair before blow drying and also when my hair is dry to flatten down any frizz.  This is my favourite item from the range as it really does keep your ends nice and sleek.

Split End Intensive Protection Mask £3.99 for 200ml

Herbal Essences say "Split End Protection Intensive Mask helps protect your hair against split ends and breakage. Indulge yourself with its velvety conditioner and pampering treatments. "

I say - to be honest this just appears to be a thicker version of the bottle conditioner.  Whether that is a good thing or not I am not sure, I love the thickness and that its in a tub as it is a lot easier to scoop out the right amount.  It has the same scent and colour as all of the other products in the range.  I applied this twice a week after shampooing and left on for 10 minutes whilst wearing a shower cap.  I always do this (the shower cap thing) as firstly I have a problem whereby wherever I stay in a hotel I seem obliged to nick all shower caps from the bathroom, so I have loads, and it also means that I don't get conditioner everywhere which is handy.  I expect you could sleep with this mask on but I didn't personally.  The mask left my hair very sleek, silky, with moisturised ends and less frizz.  Was it more so than the normal conditioner?  Probably not.  So I would only but one or the other in future.

Overall

I am really happy with this range, my hair is really limp but also dry with split ends so it's hard to find drugstore products that can moisturise without zapping the volume in your hair but this does that perfectly.  It leaves my hair smooth and sleek and really easy to brush through.  It smells gorgeous.  It's also super cheap!  I would definitely recommend this range for those with dry hair and split ends who can't afford the more 'salony' type of brands and want something that will perform well for a cheap price.

This sounds like the products smell gorgeous. although my hair's not all that dry I think I'll check out the Leave in Cream for when my ends get dry and split a few weeks after I get my hair cut. Great review!

Sounds wonderful. I'm most impressed that Matt sticks to his own products though, Sam uses all my expensive hair stuff on his silly boy hair. Outrageous! xx

Lol i make my boyfriend use my less-favoured products as well. I don't like it when I have separate shampoo and conditioner and he uses just the shampoo so that it runs out quicker than the conditioner!

I've been using this for a while too and love how it makes my hair feel, even though mine isn't that dry. It washes out my colour a bit more than I'd like but I can live with that. p.s. I have the same shower cap kleptomania!

@Primp and Preen it's definitely a lot nicer smelling than a lot of the other leave in creams xx

@Lucy Matt's a pretty good boy normally ;)

@Rebecca my shampoo always lasts about ten times the amount of time as my conditioner, I have an addiction to conditioner!

@missy_ellie_uk oh is this the culprit of my colour fading? Damn. I might have to stop using it then cos this colour putting in costs £65!!!

@RaspberryKiss no problemo x

Don't know if it's definitely the culprit for you, but my colour feels like it has been fading quicker since I switched from Aussie Colour Mate (mine is semi-permanent so fades fairly quickly anyway though).
