A little H&M and Boots Shopping

H&M
Clothes shopping for me = hell.  For example - Topshop.  Everything is usually priced at least £15 above the cost it needs to be and don't let me get started on their stupid 'tall' range jeans. Because of course my torso is the same length as a petite person's I just have a massive pair of legs and a teeny weeny body.  I mean I just adore the fact that  I would have to button the 'waist' band on my hoohah... Cheers topshop but I don't want to wear crotchsters at my age.

One of the only shops I like on the High Street is H&M and I seem to leave with a bag every time I venture inside.  I especially like their tshirts for the soft material.  Their accessories are really nice if you dig about to find the pretty things as there is also a load of tat there.  The above bracelet and earrings were £1.99 and the pouch was the same price, it will be for keeping my spare contact lenses, eye drops and glasses cloth in so the aren't floating around in my handbag.

As with makeup I am definitely a neutrals girl.  The stone colour tshirt is nice with jeans, the grey dress is for work, the slouchy grey top has beautiful shoulder embellishment and the military style shirt is made of real silk. and I thought it was really nice for Autumn.

What do you think of H&M clothing?

Boots

I always find hairbands with metal bobbles snag my hair so I bought the multi coloured ones from Scuni as they looked cute and aren't made with metal. I got another Bio Oil and yes I am aware how full of mineral oil it is and all the other crap that's in it..I have no idea why I like it so much...but I do.

Another L'oreal voluminous was a must as I haven't been able to find a carbon black in weeks.  I got another Prestige eyeliner in brown and I will review all three colours very soon as they are amazingly pigmented and last all day long.  The miffy tissues are just for my handbag.

The final purchase was a pair of hairdressing scissors as I got so fed up of being quoted £40-60 just for a trim because half the price is a blow dry, why does a blow dry cost £20 it's not that hard!  So I just snipped off the dead ends myself last night, sure it's not as good as a salon job but the scissors cost £7 so I saved myself around £50 and that makes me happy!

Do you hate how much getting your hair done costs? Why is it so expensive?  Would you trim your split ends?

I do hate how expensive it is just to get my hair trimmed - I can just about understand the cost for a full re-style or if it's a really special salon. But just for a trim? No way.

@beautyjunkielondon - phew at least I am not the only cheapo! They should have trim prices and restyle prices, it only takes 10 minutes to do a quick trim! x

I now cut my sisters hair for her - I do a pretty good job and can even cut in some nice layers at the front! It saves her £30 every couple of months. Love your buys from H&M, I'm a bit hit and miss with H&M I'm going to have a good look tomorrow though. And as for Topshop, I can see where your coming from but I just can't help myself with their stuff! Whats your opinion on their make up range?

@Laura - well I do like some things in Topshop they are just way overpriced, especially when you see similar things in the same fabric but with a slightly different cut in places like newlook and primark its like the use the same warehose to buy the clothes or something?

The makeup isn't my sort of thing and I don't like the packaging, it was exciting at first as it was new stuff, but when I swatched it all I wasn't impressed sadly x

I cut my own hair and have been doing so for several years now. I can't stand it when hairdressers cut it because they always get scissor-happy and I end up in tears and can't look at myself in the mirror for day! I had no idea Boots carried L'Oreal Voluminous! Was never able to find it.. xx

i'm terrible with trims, but I totally know the feeling, Headmasters always manage to get me to book a £40 'trim' in six weeks time. Fortunately they do free fringe trims, I always sneakily make sure they do my front layers too ;) x

I've been thinking of trimming my own hair but have been too chicken so far!

Oh my god, love that red bracelet and embellish tee! God I can't wait to get paid and get my bum to H&M!

@Stephanie I totally agree about hairdressers getting scissor-happy its so irritating, since when did 1 inch become 5!

@Jo so good for £1.99!

I needed a trim and considered doing it myself but was worried about it being wonky. I have in the past let my mum cut it but she cuts off way too much. In the end I went for a stand-by service which costs £25

@Jules - I only took off a tiny bit and I am scared of the hairdressers anyway haha!

@Laura - i'll pop round next time shall I and you can do mine as well as your sis ;P

I love H&M!! *looks down at outfit" Right now, my t-shirt, tank top, cardigan and socks are all from H&M.

Luckily for me, I've been going to the same hairdresser since I was about 3. She knows that all I ever want is a couple of inches off the bottom, so she only charges me for a "child's" haircut - just £8 at the moment!

I can see a mad hunt around H&M in my future.

I love love love H&M, You really have to have a dig around though, and when you do you can pick up the most amazing pieces which are sooo reasonably priced! I used to always shop in Topshop before (in my uni days) but hate it now, its soo overpriced! I mean I picked up a cardigan from H&M for £20 and in TS its like £45. I love the khaki colour silk shirt, I saw that today so might go pick that up for myself, what will you wear it with?
and I agree about the hairdressers, total rip off, you pay like £50 just for a trim because the blow dry costs like £25-30, I think im going to get those scissors too! :) its a good idea!

That bracelet looks very pretty. I hate how expensive haircuts are in general but I only get it cut twice a year. I sometime cut off split ends but I'd never be brave enough to cut my own hair x

I am incredibly cheap when to getting my hair cut. I only get it cut by my hairdresser when I visit my home town and that due to it being £23 max (w/o my student discount ^_^).

Fortunately I never get split ends (I've been using Toni & Guy's Protein Mist for the years) so it makes my growing my hair out so easy. Xx

Hi Sarah! :)

For me, shopping tops or cardigans i love it but trousers or jeans and then my tragedy starts, i'm pettit so you can imagine how hard is to find trousers that actually suits me in on length, waist and hips... :( not easy for me...
I do love H&M, in my country we don't have that shop but here in UK i became fanatic, love the style, and the way that is made of, giving nice shapes.
I've heard some good and bad things about Bio-oil, but considering that you really like it, i would love to know your opinion, Does it really fade scars and stretch marks, even skin tone and help with fine lines - wrinkles? Why do you like it so much?.
I think that for a hair cut or trimming here in UK is extremely expensive, don't understand why... fortunately my friend does for me, is not the best but she does a really good job.
Take care, have a great day
Anahi xx

I have the earrings in yellow and blue. I really want the brown now! :P At £1.99 i think i can splash out.. esp after the rouge bunny rouging.. this is more budget friendly

@Anahi trouser shopping is a nightmare!

The bio oil for me is good for scars it doesn't really do anything for wrinkles or skintone x

@ Tali I wish my skintone was a bit darker so I could wear the brighter colours but I held them up against my face and looked a bit nutty! RBR haulage is calling to me too from Zuneta...buy me...buy meeee!
