Toni & Guy Signature Hair Straighteners

Since 2005 I have always had a hair straightener, to be precise I have always had a GHD straightener and for some reason was of the opinion that this was the only straightener to have, all others being rubbish.  It just shows how good a marketing campaign can be, since I thought this without ever having tried another straightener in my life!

Recently the buzz brand has been Cloud 9 and I found it interesting that people weren't so stuck on GHD's being the best.  Around a month ago I was given these Toni & Guy Signature straighteners after getting my hair done at Toni & Guy on Regent Street by the amazing Efi.  I am saving up my pennies so I can get my hair restyled by her soon as she is a rare non-scary hairdresser although I am guessing she is very pricey!

The straighteners heat up fast and have a variable heat dial which makes them a step up from my GHD's.  They also glide through my hair a lot quicker making the overall straightening process a lot quicker too.  They come in a case which doubles as a heat matt which is very handy as I didn't have one and the case design means the wire doesn't get all tangled up.

The temperature can vary up until 230 degrees which as far as I am aware is the top heat that GHD's can reach also and you can lock the heat once you pick whichever you choose so if you accidentally knock the heat dial nothing happens and it doesn't switch off.   The lead is really long (3 metres) and perfect if your plug socket is placed (like mine) somewhere ridiculous like right next to the door of the room, nowhere near a mirror.

Overall I would recommend these wholeheartedly, I have very thin hair but other reviews I have read online said that those with thick hair were impressed with them too.  As you can see above (with no product other than heat protector) my hair is super shiny afterwards.

And the best thing?  the RRP is £69.99 at Argos

You can also purchase these at Boots.

Were you sucked in by GHD?  Have you got some cheap straighteners that you love?

I have always used GHD and I am the same, I thought it was really the only way to go. Now I'm definatly thinking of trying the Cloud 9s x
