The Body Shop Anti Slavery Day

Today (Monday 18th October), coincides with the European Union’s Anti-Trafficking Day.
If you can spare a moment then please sign The Body Shop's petition calling for the government to put it place greater care and protection for child victims:

“Stop Sex Trafficking of Children and Young People”

Jessie Macneil-Brown
Global Campaigns Manager

I was able to ask Jessie a couple of questions about this extremely important issue:

How do the Body Shop decide which campaigns to support?

The Body Shop has a history of campaigning about issues that very few people are talking or doing anything about.
Only a few days before she died our founder, Anita Roddick, asked the Campaigns Team if we could do something about Sex Trafficking.  W
e are very excited about this campaign as we see this as Anita’s legacy.
We will continue to campaign on issues that we feel our customers and the world need to know about and that need to be changed!

How much money so far has be raised for ECPAT from sales of the Hand Cream?

The sales of our Soft Hands Kind Heart Hand Cream have amazed all of us. In less than a year we doubled our estimated sales and we’re so grateful to our customers for supporting this campaign.  So far we have raised over 1.5million pounds for ECPAT and this money is making a huge difference to victims all over the world. ECPAT uses the money not only to lobby governments but to raise awareness on the issue which includes educating young people on the dangers of trafficking and both supporting victims and providing them with the services they need to rebuild their lives

What can bloggers do to help?

It would be brilliant if you could sign the petition and even better if you could ask ten friends to sign the petition as well. You can sign the petition in Body Shop stores or by going to the campaign website www.thebodyshop.com/stop

As well as supporting our campaign by signing the petition you can buy the special campaign hand cream, Soft hands, Kind heart. The hand cream costs £3.50 and all the profits (£2.36 per bottle) are donated to ECPAT.

If you have time today I really would appreciate if you could sign the petition.  Thank you for your support of this issue xoxo
