Soap and Glory have taken their cult Sexy Motherpucker lipglosses and added 4 more shades to the range which is always to be applauded in my book, the more shades the merrier. I am reviewing shade Half Naked.
The gloss is fairly thick and very similar to a Bloom lipgloss in both packaging and consistency. They are also quite sticky which means they stay on for a good hour or two before they need a touch up.
I wasn’t that keen on the taste as first, in fact I mentioned to Jane over at Modestybrown as we were walking (yes I am one of those women that slaps on lipstick whilst walking along Regent Street) that the gloss smelled like ‘funky old popcorn’. But after a while I started to find a bizarre affiliation with the funky popcorn smell, its slightly chocolatey and comforting! Obviously not my favourite scented gloss though.
Does this work at plumping your lips? Yes it does in my opinion, the ingredients contain something which results in a mild tingling on the lips, which therefore irritates them slightly and causes them to swell. This wasn’t my first experience with one of the glosses as I use the extreme version in the silver tube now and again and this is obviously nowhere near as strong as that. Obviously If you have very sensitive skin be aware that you may have an adverse reaction to plumping glosses.
The shade is a sheer pink berry on me and I love it. It’s the perfect compliment to pale skin and a dark smoky eye on me although I think this would be equally flattering on a lot of skintones, probably not if you have sallow or yellow toned skin.
The four new shades in the range are Half Naked, Yummy Plum, Pink Apricot and Candy Floss.
Overall I would give this lipgloss 8/10 with one point deducted for the smell and 1 for the packaging.
