One thing I would really love to have done - surgery wise, is Ultralase Laser Eye Surgery. It's something I have thought about for a long time and something I think would really benefit me and be quite a life changing experience.
I have heard a lot of great reviews about Ultralase, they establishes in 1991 and were the UK's first laser eye surgery clinic. They have carried out more than 220,000 treatments so far.
I am sure a lot of people might think the idea of eyesight laser correction is a bit vain as you can just wear contacts or glasses, but my glasses hurt my nose and my contacts hurt my eyes as they are so dry! I can't win lol!
There is also the argument that over the years of not updating prescriptions, buying lens solutions or disposable lenses, frames etc. that you end up spending less if you have the surgery, which is something to think about.
At Ultralase the consultation consists of lots of tests to ensure that you and the surgery are compatible, similar to normal eye tests plus eye mapping to ascertain the nature of the eye issues you have. They will then tell you if you are suitable for the treatment and if so, which type of treatment you should have. You can then book in or not as you decide or if you want to go for it, you then book in for the big day!
First of all you are given a talk about the procedure and whether you have Lasik or Lasek they will explain the differences, then you sign you consent form and they do their thing.
The colleague I used to work with that used Ultralase said she was shocked as the whole treatment was painless, you would expect there to be some pain or something really wouldn't you? I know I would have! But no she felt no pain. A lot of famous people have also used Ultralase which puts me at ease as they would lose more money than me if the treatment didn't go well and they had faith in the procedures. The treatment is fairly expensive, but as with all things to do with surgery, you often get what you pay for! They do offer payment plans though if that's a problem.
All in all, the more I think about this the more I want it done. oooh just to save those pennies up now.
I would LOVE to hear from you if you've had laser eye surgery and any info that you can share would be fab.Sarah x

I would love laser surgery too but it is sooooooo expensive :(
I haven't had the surgery, though, I do want to have it in the future. I wear my glasses everyday and my contacts KILL my eyes. My good friend, Giovanni, had LASIK last year and he loves it. He was really happy with the result. He wasn't allowed to wear contacts and had to wear glasses 100 percent of the time. LASIK was the answer to his prayers. I only worry that if I have the surgery now, that my eyes will eventually worsen anyway. I've heard that has happened. And I worry that I'll miss my glasses ... still, you can't beat the freedom of clear eyesight.
I really wanted this a few years ago when I was embarrassed by my specs and didn't wear contacts. Now I've tried contacts and bought some lovely D&G specs, I can think of better things to spend a few grand on but if it was cheaper/free I'd deffo get it done!
It really appeals but can it really be as good as everyone says? I find that kinda suspicious. How nasty am I?
hi i've had eye laser surgery and i made a detailed post about it, it's really life altering and until now i still cant believe i wake up everyday contacts free:-)
I've had my eyes lasered about 7 years ago hun. I was very short sighted and wore contact lenses all the time.
Its been brilliant and so so worth it. The recovery time was quite short and i could see perfectly within 24 hrs :)
I would reccomend it to anyone xx
My fiance is getting this done soon. I definitely don't think it's cosmetic, and is something worth saving up for! He hates his glasses (especially after coming in from the cold!) and gets dry eyes from contacts. Not to mention swimming, he can't wear either. He's getting LASIK, luckily we only have to foot half the bill. I'm scared something could go wrong, but I'm excited as well, he has gorgeous eyes always hidden behind glasses!
