Mac Makeup Artist Collections Haul

Before I was accosted by that loon I had a great time at the Mac counter and I even got a free poster of whichever of the three new collections I wanted (I picked the purple glittery eye that accompanies the pigment and glitter collection) I picked up Cocomotion pigment, the perfect cheek blush, close to real lipstick from the high def collection and notoriety eyeshadow quad.  I might go back and get front lit lipstick too but I wanted to think about it.

The perfect cheek – have you ever heard of anyone say ‘your lips but better’ when describing their ideal lipgloss?  I am always looking for a blush that it ‘my cheeks but better’ as I blush quite a nice mid pink tone and I have never been able to match it..until today!  The gorgeous makeup artist at Mac in Selfridges Oxford St. tried it on me in the store and I had to have it, it was so gorgeous then and it has grown on me even more.  It really makes you look like you are glowing from within, a healthy glow rather than a super obvious makeup glow.  It’s matte which makes it really wearable for all skin types (as I know shimmer can make oily skin look even more greasy).  I think this is going to be my HG for Autumn and winter.  The question is should I get a backup? What do you think?

I used it in my FOTD for today with the notoriety eyeshadow quad and close to real lipstick.  I really like this quad as it is a bit different to my usual neutral eye and the coppery colour is really lovely.  I used the Illamasqua sealing gel with the darkest colour to make the eyeliner and I actually really like it, it doesn’t budge at all (and actually takes ages to wash off)!

The palest colour is good for a highlighter under the brow as it is very shimmery and frosty, the copper could be as a liner or an allover lid colour, or just in the crease with a paler colour.  I also think it would look nice with a bright gold or a khaki green, this is a metallic shade with gold shimmer particles in it.  The third colour is a antiquey gold colour with a greeny gold tinge.  The darkest colour is more a liner or crease colour, it is a dark brown with shimmer that matches the copper colour.  They all go together really well as you would expect and are a bit different to what I would normally buy.  The quality is as good as all other mac shadows and the pigmentation is good in all of them, I would say that you can’t really see as much of the copper shimmer in the darkest shadow once you have applied and blended it in.

The high definition lipstick is gorge, it applies really easily and is very creamy and smooth, no gritty bits.  It is a lustre.  I don’t think this would look great on chapped lips so you would need to make sure you exfoliate and moisturise your lips so they aren’t dry.  It is a perfect nude, not too peachy, not too pinky.

All in all I like everything I bought, I didn’t really like the green or purple quads too much but I liked a lot of the other lipsticks so I will probably go back and have another look.

I now have to go through all of the entries to the competition and write the names on pieces of paper and get the BF to pick them out of the hat, so stay tuned it just might take a day as there were a lot more entries than I ever expected!  Fingers crossed everyone xx
