Nailtiques Formula 2 Plus
After a particularly sad month of terrible nails I though I would fess up and admit…this is the state of my nails at the moment and the reason why that even though I have around 7 new nail polishes to try I haven’t done any NOTD.
Yikes! This is due to having acrylics put on that were not done properly. A lot of people have tried to lecture me about having acrylics on my nails every 2 weeks, and derr I know this is not the best thing you can do for your nails in the whole world however the above incident was not done by my lovely Louise who normally does my nails (she was in the hospital at the time so I had to have them done by someone else) and happened as the acrylic was applied too thinly at the cuticles and too thickly at the tips, so the cuticle area started lifting, got caught and ripped most of my nails off. My normal nail technician does not use a drill nor does anything to my natural nails rather than a very swift file over the top with an emery board style file, she doesn’t hack at my natural nails or file them down until they are paper-like and when they are soaked off for me to have a break they don’t look scary or anything like that. So as you can image I was completely devastated lol, yes I am shallow.
Wearing a layer of acrylic over your own nails, no matter how well they are applied is not a great idea and your nails will eventually suffer in one way or another. Thus I have decided (and it has been a difficult decision as I am a fan of ‘faking it’) to start trying to grow and repair my natural nails until they return to their former glory. This may in part be due to Helen telling me how naughty I have been lol. After being advised by lots of lovelies on Twitter – namely (lizzclare, HelenNiceThings, Get_Lippie and LouLou699) on a few products to try which were Sally Hansen, Mavala and Nail Envy by OPI I went on the search for them. But unfortunately I came up against a few problems.
Sally Hansen Nail Growth Miracle hasn’t done anything, my nails are still splitting, breaking off and chipping even with at last count about 5 coats of it on, also it keeps peeling off which is a right pain. OPI Nail Envy – this was offered to me by my mum who was snowed in for ages so I haven’t been able to get to her to borrow it! And Mavala Scientifique which I was most interested in purchasing, but was out of stock in online shops that I like to use and at my local stockist John Lewis (grr).
So after some research I came across Nailtiques Formula 2 Plus for excessive nail problems which was also in stock and in the sale at one of my favourite all purpose beauty shops online Lookfantastic. They state “the salon tested formulations offer special combinations of ingredients including hydrolyzed keratin and protein in combination with gelatin and calcium. As far as I know these are components that your natural nail is made up of.
It is a nail protein treatment that is specially for former wearers of acrylics, gels, wraps, tips etc. The Nailtiques protein formula comes in Formula 1, 2, 2 plus and 3. You are supposed to start with 2 or 3 and then use Formula 1 as a maintenance I believe. I bought Forumula 2 plus as if I have been using a nail miracle treatment for 3 weeks and my nails are a good example of having ‘excessive nail problems’!! You use it on clean polish free nails and apply a thin coat avoiding the cuticle area and making sure you do not wave your hands about to dry them, this is apparently banned. Then applying another coat each day.
So I will do an update – depending on whether it works or not after a couple of weeks.
