Lush Mint Julips and Sweet Lips Lip Scrub – A Love/Hate Relationship

I am sure I will probably ruffle some lush loving feathers but this is what I feel about the lip scrubs I recently purchased.

I picked up both Mint Julips and Sweet Lips exfoliating lip scrubs from Lush around 2 weeks ago (yes I know I wasn’t going to but I have a problem). Which is annoying since I have had a love/hate relationship with both of them ever since. My explanation:

Love – the idea behind them, natural products like you could make in your kitchen but just can’t actually be bothered to do

Hate – the fact that this has been so messily put into the pot whenever I take the lid off I have to do it over a bin or sink to stop the sugar fallout oh and the labels had to be rearranged as they were wonky

Love – the scent of Mint Julep

Hate – the scent of Sweet Lips

Love – the taste of Mint Julep

Hate – fact that they are so bloody expensive for a bit of sugar and some oil. They cost £4.50 each so £9 for both

Love – erm i’m running out of ideas now

Hate – the fact that these make my lips sore and sting! Even if I rub very gently

My verdict is simple. I am not going to repurchase these scrubs. Yes if I rub hard they do get the dry skin off my lips, they also make them burn and feel very sore as they are just too rough for my lips.

However I have thought of a way to use them up – I will just take to eating them with a spoon out of my handbag on long train journeys or if I need a bit of a ‘pick-me-up’, well waste-not want-not!

If you see my review of The Body Shop Lip scuff  here this is gentle but effective, a decent price since you don’t end up with it all of your floor or face and it tastes lightly minty rather than being over the top sickly. I would overall recommend this lipscrub as being a lot more effective.

So any Lush products you love/hate or just think are totally overrated? Let me know!
