New Models Own Makeup

You may have noticed from my frequent posting that I have rather a large obsession with Models Own nail varnishes.

This is my collection:

So I was pretty excited to rip open an envelope on Saturday to find it contained some of Models Own new Makeup Range!  This is their new range which is available at ASOS online and in freestanding Boots stores.  You can check out more info about Models Own at Boots here modelsownatboots

I am really grateful to be sent these, but they aren’t in colours I would ever use, in case you wondered 😛

What I plan to buy from the range is the new lipsticks in Coral Pink and Nude, the nail polishes in Golden Peach and Raspberry Fool and the blush in Peach.

Models Own Volumising Mascara

RRP £5

The large ‘normal’ bristle wand got in to all lashes in the inner and outer corner and was very defining.  It did add a decent amount of volume but not the best one I have ever used.  The formulation was quite thin and it needed 3 coats to produce the volume shown in the picture below, I would assume this is one of those mascaras that gets better when it is a week or so old as the formulation dries out slightly.  It wasn’t clumpy and gave good length as well.  All in all I think this is definitely a good mascara for the price, these days L’Oreal mascaras are around £9.99 so this is a good buy for around half the price.

Models Own Neon Lip And Face Paint in Neon Peach

RRP £5

As someone who never goes to parties, festivals or clubs where face paint would be worn (or even when it wouldn’t actually) I am not too sure what to say about this.  It’s certainly very orange!  The pigment is very strong and it applied smoothly when swatched and was very vibrant.   Apart from that I am not sure what one would look for in a facepaint to be honest..I think this product is for someone who isn’t such an old fart.

Eyeshadow Duo in Woodland

RRP £5.00

These aren’t really colours that suit me (they look like they would be suited to green or brown eyes) but the pigmentation was ok.  I wasn’t into the amount of glitter that seems to be going through them to be honest but this might just be this duo not the others available (my local Boots won’t get the stand until June so I haven’t seen any others).  The colours certainly compliment each other and the packaging is handy as it shows the colours through so it’s easy to grab the colour you want from your collection.

Lipstick in Hot Pink

RRP £5.00

I like the packaging of this lipstick as it’s super handy if you have a lot of lipsticks to instantly see which colour you are grabbing.  It has a good formulation and is very long lasting, the swatch on my hand took forever to remove and it wasn’t super drying on the lips either.  This precise colour doesn’t suit me at all but I plan to purchase one or two of the other colours as I was impressed with the formulation.

Here are the Swatches

All in all I was impressed with the rage for the price, my favourite item was the lipstick and my least favourite – the eyeshadow duo.  I am not sure what to make of the face paints but I doubt I am their target audience.  To be completely honest, I think the nail polishes are still the best things in their range and I plan to continue to collect as many as I can.
