Sometimes it takes years and years to find something that works for you and your skin type. I had searched for so long to find a face mask to get rid of blackheads.
What I was looking for:
One that didn’t irritate my skin
Something strong enough to suck out the gunk in my pores
Helped to get the under the skin spots brought toward the surface so they could erupt and then go away
Get rid of blackheads
Get rid of spots
Something inexpensive
And I found it!
I have been using the Queen Helene Mint Julep mask for years, I only remembered it yesterday when Matt had the biggest blackhead I had ever seen and he asked me what to do so I went and dug out my tube. I don’t get many blackheads but when I do this is the first port of call.
I can’t believe I have never mentioned this before! It is a very simple Kaolin clay and sulfur (clay based mineral) mask without many ingredients, it also contains glycerin so it isn’t too drying for a clay mask.
You simply apply all over the face or spot apply where you have a spot or blackhead, leave on for around 15 minutes until the mask has gone from being a wet paste to being dry and possibly cracking.
Use warm water and a flannel to remove and voila, amazing looking skin, blackheads gone and spots looking much better – although obviously if you have a lot of gunk to come out deep in the pore the mask will draw it out, so sometimes when you remove the mask you have some whiteheads that you can then apply the mask again to or apply spot cream – or if you are a squidger – then squidge the whitehead. If you squidge remember to use tissue covered fingernails and don’t dig at the spot, as this will cause more problems.
I have to get it from eBay as I have never found a shop that consistently sells it, sometimes it’s as Sally on Shaftesbury Avenue but not recently. This is their website queen Helene. It usually costs between £3 – £4.00 but probably cheaper in the USA.
