What I really love about Katy Perry is that while she does (in my opinion) get things a little wrong sometimes on the other side sometimes she smashes it out of the park and the styling and makeup look phenomenol. If that were me I would much rather be someone who looks absolutely stunning sometimes than someone who looks average all the time if you see what I mean? For example Victoria Beckham always looks classy and glam, but I cannot remember one standout specific makeup look or outfit, but with Katy there are a lot of looks that stand out for me and she likes to look different.
Makeup
I love how she ranges from the classic pinup look to mixing it up with different coloured liner over the top of the dark liner flick and bright pink statement lips rather than just red. Her skin always looks flawless and while pictures of her skin show that she isn’t particularly spotty the flawless makeup is definitely to thank for the way her skin looks and I like that, it shows that you don’t have to be naturally amazing to look great, you can cheat it with some makeup!
Off Duty Style
I wouldn’t say that I specifically copy any of her looks but I definitely draw from her style and approach, and I especially love her outfits that she wears ‘off camera’ the unstyled outfits that she has just picked herself that don’t involve saveloy esque PVC. Her every day outfits are definitely the type of thing I choose and I am impressed by the fact that she will buy a statement designer handbag but rock it A LOT for example she wore her gold Chloe Paddington bag a lot of the time during winter 2009 and Spring 2010.
She is now rocking a Maxi Quilted Chanel Flap bag. I am impressed by the fact that she seems to buy designer items and cherish them rather than just buying a Birkin in 99 different colours and using it once, it makes her seem more normal as they are expensive items, and while she could probably afford hundreds I find it more impressive that she buys what she likes and uses it a lot, much as a regular woman would if she had saved up a lot of money for something.
Gym
And the final reason I love Katy Perry? She admits that she goes to the gym and needs to work out! I don’t know about you but those celebrities who say ‘oh I never work out’ or ‘I run about after the kids that keeps me slim’ while they look like an anorexic skeletor really piss me off. I personally have to eat healthily and go to the gym fairly often to maintain a UK size 8/10. So having some twiglet saying that they eat what they like and never go to the gym does me head in because either a) it’s true and they are a bitch edited to explain – (it’s not fair!!!! I am jealous!!! I certainly am not a freak who enjoys the gym!) or b) it’s a big fat lie and makes other women like me feel inadequate. I like that she has to go to the gym, it makes me feel normal!
