Before I had my last Dermaroller treatment I needed to ensure that all of the fake tan was off of my legs and the best way to do that is with oil, as it breaks down the product and an exfoliant as it scrubs it off.
I decided to make my own as I had most of the ingredients and I wanted to use pineapple because it was recommended to me by Alison from BeautyDenn as the enzymes contained in pineapples can help the tan break down apparently, so I wanted to see if this would work in a scrub.
To make enough for 3 full body applications
250g brown sugar
4-5 tablespoons of oil – I used olive oil
2 pineapple rings or 3 pineapple slices
1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
Mash up the pineapple in a bowl and add the oil and vanilla essence. Stir in the sugar a bit at a time until you reach the right consistency
I smeared this all over the area where the fake tan needed removing and left it on for 5 minutes while I took off my makeup. I then dampened my hands and rubbed in a circular motion for a few minutes then rinsed off. Some of the tan had come off but I needed to repeat this three times for all of the tan to fully be removed. The tan was 7 days old so I doubt this would work prior to that amount of time (it might do I am just not sure).
This left my skin soft, smooth and best of all – fake tan free without scrubbing hard or hurting my skin. The ingredients and mixing probably mean it’s more expensive than some cheap drugstore scrubs but it was fun to do, smelled yummy and left my skin super smooth, so for an occasional treat I would definitely recommend it.
It was a bit messy!
