Origins Brighter By Nature and Youthtopia

I had heard a lot about these two products but it did take me ages to get round to trying them out.  I have been using both the Origins Brighter by Nature Youthtopia Firming Eye Cream (mouthfull) and the Brighter By Nature Peel Pads for about a month now and I am so impressed with both of them that I wanted to tell you about them.
Origins Brighter By Nature™ High-Potency Brightening Skin Peel Pads
These are rather reminiscent of the Clearasil blackhead pads I used to use on spots as a teenager in that they look exactly the same! They are textured thin pads and the pot contains 40 pads for £28 origins

They say “Brighter By Nature™ High-potency brightening peel with fruit acids incorporates some of nature’s most powerful skin-tone correcting ingredients.  “The signature complex of Goji Berry, Blueberry, Cranberry, Pomegranate and Grape Seed extracts as well as Fruit Acids derived from Coconuts and Salicylic Acid stimulate a fast exfoliation of damaged and dead skin cells and thereby instantly help to correct the appearance of surface damage.” explains Dr. Lieve Declercq, Origins Global Spokesperson of Plant Physiology and Molecular Biology.  Additionally, Scutellaria Root, Apple Extract and Cucumber Extract help even skin tone, while Japanese Basil Leaf, Aloe and Caffeine provide soothing and calming benefits.”

To use you simply use one pad over the face.  I rub gently in circular movements avoiding your eyes and mouth.  You do this twice per week after cleansing and before moisturising.  Because newly revealed skin may be sensitive to sunlight you need to wear and SPF while you are going through the cycle  I always feel wasteful if I chuck the pad away so I make sure to use it on my neck and the back of my hands as well! Or you could cut them in half? Use some sharp scissors if you want to attempt that as you don’t want to ruin them.

Because this is a peel, somewhat similar to the effects that a low grade peel at a dermatologists you have to remember to look after your skin and use your moisturiser after this as it can be a little drying.  I do have very sensitive skin though and using these is totally fine for me. Do ask for them to use one on you in store as a sort of patch test if you are unsure.

My skin looks brighter and feels softer and smoother already and I think that getting rid of the dead skin cells really helps my Korres skincare products penetrate my skin better and perform better so it’s overall a brilliant product.

Another benefit to these pads is my foundation applies a lot better and my skin has less flaky patches even in this cold weather as they are peeled right off!  Also if you use one after cleansing you can see if you are getting all of your make up off properly as I used it after I had thought my skin was clean and loads of foundation came off-horror! So I know I need to be more thorough going forward.

Definitely a recommended product from me, especially considering the price of a peel in a salon.

Origins – Youthtopia Firming Eye Cream

I absolutely love my Origins Youthtopia foundation which I have reviewed here and here so I wanted to try the eye cream once my Korres Materia Herba one ran out.

They say “Discover Origins revolutionary approach to de-ageing skin around the eyes. Youthtopia™ Firming eye cream with Rhodiola, the legendary Siberian herb linked with longevity, visibly de-ages, reduces puffiness and helps empower fragile eye skin to rebound from damaging stress. In fact 59% of those who tried it saw a more lifted look after just 8 weeks. Your eye area looks firmer and more youthful with none of the potential wrinkles.”

I was surprised by the colour but it goes on sheer and doesn’t leave a brown ring around your eye! I simply patt it on to the under eye area with my ring finger morning and night after cleansing and you only need a teeny weeny bit.

What I love about this is that it really firms the area as well as moisturising and it didn’t give me milia which a lot of eye creams do, presumably as they have too high a oil content.  I will definitely continue to use this as I think I can see the benefits.

Another massive benefit is that it is a really good lip treatment as well.  I have been applying like a lip balm every night before my Lucas’ pawpaw ointment and it really helps to sooth chapped lips and then the pawpaw ointment locks in the moisture.

After reading one of Tali’s latest posts over at The Gloss Goss and then having a peruse of the Origins website I have decided that I definitely need to ask for this for Christmas.  Ginger Collection Ginger Treats Set costs £29 and includes the incredible spreadable ginger scrub, body souffle and ginger float bubble bath which I am assuming I could just use in the shower? Mmm in this horrible weather some warming ginger products are just what I need.
