While I was researching eyelash extension brands on the Internet I came across a fairly new phenomenon that seems to have originated from the US, or at least has been given as a treatment there since September.
From what I have found, Semi-Permanent Mascara is also called Lash Dipping and is different in both effect and application compared to eyelash tinting or dying.
Different brands seem to offer different promises but most say the effect lasts from 3-6 weeks which would depend presumably on how quickly your lash cycle is as it can range from 30-90 days.
So what is the treatment?
The treatment is described as a jelly-like coating that is applied to the lashes and cured (or set) using a cold air method in a salon environment by a professional technician.
What is the point of having it done?
The finish mimics the look of mascara. Instead of just dying the lash like a tint it also provides lift, separation, volume and hold so you don’t need to wear mascara. I have seen brands claim that once the lashes have been cured they are water, sweat and heat proof.
I have some personal questions
I will try this treatment out if I can find anyone offering it as I would like to know:
- Does it really look that good?
- Are the lashes curled and if so does this drop over time?
- Does it dry out your lashes?
- Does it damage your natural lashes?
- Is there aftercare i.e. such as lash sealant?
- Do they layer it like normal mascara or is it just 1 coat?
