Recently I have covered In-Office tooth whitening with Evolution Smile-X, home whitening with Mint Cosmetics and many whitening toothpastes such as Beverly Hills Formula and Yotuel.
I was wondering how it would be possible to cover a different in-office service without having the spare money to have it done again or knowing any friends that were having it done.
Step in the lovely Lucy who I met whilst getting my Jinny Lashes applied. I could tell straight away that Lucy isn’t the sort of person to lie about treatments or ‘big them up’ even if she is working with the people doing them, she is a very honest and down to earth gal so I had no qualms in asking her if she would mind reviewing and sharing her experience with us to get someone elses experience with a different brand of whitening. I had previously been told be dentists that Zoom whitening was a bit rubbish so I was interested to see what Dr Darfoor did that made it work.

The Promise:

The Procedure:
I arrive at the prestigious Number 1 Harley Street location and home to Dr Simon Darfoor, the UKs leading cosmetic dentist. I have always heard mixed views regarding tooth whitening so it was time to discover more and trial this well reputed in-office tooth whitening myself.

Initially apprehensive, I was soothed by the very friendly and charming Dr Darfoor and his delightful team of assistants including the wonderful Marjana who was on hand to help with this treatment. Gentle jazz music filled the room whilst Dr Darfoor embarked on the initial consultation, and diligently ‘colour matched’ a shade of white that would compliment my skin tone without looking Jodie Marsh neon. Dr Darfoor also established the condition of my teeth and gave me a diagnosis of ‘enamel erosion’ down to my acidic diet. However, this would not detract from my smile make over as it was decided that the areas of undamaged enamel would be whitened and the eroded areas renewed with invisible cosmetic fillings. Phew!
Using mock ‘teeth’ from an extensive library, it was decided that I would go 9 shades whiter! I have always wanted a brighter, more gleaming smile and I wasn’t going half measures here. I drink a lot of coffee plus years of chocolate and naughty snacks have done nothing for my teeth. It was time to wave goodbye to my slightly yellow teeth and say hello to some new pearly whites. Dr Darfoor explained that this level of whitening would consist of a 3-stage tooth whitening process, with each ‘session’ lasting 15 minutes. He also described the variety of tooth whitening methods he offers and discusses who they are aimed at plus how the processes work on a scientific level that is easy to grasp.
A mouth prop was fitted to protect my lips exposing my teeth and gums. Some protective glasses were also placed over my eyes and a gum guard material was adhered to the inside of my mouth in order to protect my gums. Once this was complete, I was ready for action; a special hydrogen peroxide photo-sensitive gel was blended and then ‘painted’ onto my teeth, missing the areas of damaged enamel. The in-office UV light was then placed over my mouth. This process was repeated 3 times with Dr Darfoor paying close attention and showing me the whitening progress after each 15 minute cycle.
The whole experience was simple and pain free. Despite some mild sensitivity over the following hour, I was astounded with the results. I was told not to eat anything that would ‘stain a white blouse’ for the next 24 hours to ensure the very best results. I was then invited back two days later to proceed with the cosmetic fillings.
The eroded enamel on my teeth from my acidic diet was not only unattractive but also painful. Dr Darfoor carefully mixed a composite formula that perfectly matched my new white teeth. This was adhered to the eroded enamel and polished. The end result was flawless, no visible fillings or joins, just a beautiful new smile. Plus I can now drink and eat anything I like without that awful ‘zinging’ sensation from the erosion.
The Result:
My teeth have never been my strong point until now. Dr Darfoor almost moved me to tears with this transformation. Simple and incredibly effective, Dr Darfoor has not only rejuvenated my smile, but has maintained the health of my teeth plus advised me how to move forward with my dental care from this point on. I can definitely say that if I was going to go for the Zoom treatment I would see Dr Darfoor rather than anyone else, the results really are brill, I saw Lucy last night and close up her teeth look just as wicked as the pics. Thanks Lucy for your review xx
