Rose Otto – Dr Organic

This is a review of  Dr Organic Rose Otto Skin Toner and Facial Serum (restoring oil).  One of which I bought and one of which I was sent to review, and one of which I like and the other one I think is fab but smells WRONG.

Dr Organic can be purchased at Holland and Barrett which, because I am a strange girl, is one of my favourite shops. I have perused the display quite often but only tried the roll on deo, which was nice – but it was a bit odd having honey smelling pits!  You can also buy the range online at www.drorganic.co.uk/rose-products

Organic Rose Otto Skin Toner

Pure organic rose otto oil is blended with rose water, witch hazel and aloe vera to form a gentle but astringent toner.  It says that it is firming which I think is a load of phooey but apart from that I find it a beautifully scented toner that gets rid of every scrap of cleanser and doesn’t leave skin overly dry.  It is lovely and refreshing and I find the scent very uplifting. I bought this about a month ago and have been using it most days and I have only used half the bottle, which is good as I had a minor spillage as well.  I definitely think this is worth the money and if you like a toner for toners sake, like me, then you will enjoy this.  I would recommend it for combo to dry skin rather than oily, and if you are not good with heavily scented products then also give this a miss, or at least go to the shop and sniff first to avoid disappointment. 8/10

Organic Rose Otto Facial Serum

Pure organic rose otto oil combined with argan oil, jojoba oil, rosa mosqueta oil, passion seed oil and calendula oil to create a fast absorbing and restorative organic facial oil.  I will admit to be completely baffled how it is an oil that is being called a serum? Answers on a postcard please.

Let’s pretend this doesn’t have a scent at all and it is a fabulous face oil.  Not as good as my favourite Aromatherapy Associates facial oil (of which there will be a post soon) however it is a very good facial oil and amazing for the price.  Jojoba oil is especially good as it can penetrate the skin and is amazing at balancing the sebum levels in facial skin.  It is very smoothing and soothing without leaving an oily feel.

This facial oil is very thin and doesn’t feel greasy or nasty at all, you can also mix with your moisturiser for added oomph.  The problem is that is does not smell nice! It doesn’t smell like the toner to me at all, it just smells wrong.  I urge you to sniff this before purchasing! In all other ways it is fab, but I cannot use something if I don’t like the smell.  6/10
