| John Frieda Beach Blonde Range |
Onto my next trial of new shampoo and conditioner, in the
efforts to find the best ones for my hair extensions (thick, voluminous and
heavy, human hair weave by Beauty Works).
These three Beach Blonde products from John Frieda are a
re-launch after around 10 years away due to an online petition, so it’s nice to
know they take their customers’ requirements into consideration. Although I don’t think I used them the first
time around. I have blonde highlights
and blonde extensions and if they’re designed to restore blonde hair after
being in the sun and sea I thought ‘why not give these a go’!
John Frieda Beach Blonde Cool Dip Purifying Shampoo (£5.99)
I’m not usually a massive fan of John Frieda’s shampoos apart from the Frizz Ease range as my hair doesn’t seem to be that nourished and can end up a bit dry. I do like this shampoo however, my hair feels really clean without feeling stripped of moisturiser and it gives a really nice lather.
The smell is great, like a minty mojito cocktail and I definitely think this would be good after the beach or using a lot of hairspray or product to remove build up and leave your hair silky soft but nice and clean. The shampoo feels really nice on my scalp and leaves it a bit tingly which is nice as you feel really fresh, it’s great for use in the mornings. I like the packaging as it is easy to use and there is no spillage as I have sometimes when the lid is on the bottom of the product. I especially think this would be a really nice shampoo for men as it doesn’t smell girly.
John Frieda Beach Blonde Smooth Seas Detangling Conditioner

I wouldn’t say this is the best or most detangling conditioner that I have used, it’s not that I was disappointed by this product exactly, but after reading so many amazing reviews I was more excited before trying it than after, if you see what I mean! I think my hair and extensions are a bit too dry and need a more nourishing conditioner than this, my hair needs a lot of moisture and while you might assume that a product designed for post-beach use would be a great choice, I think I need something stronger. If you have thinner hair than mine or yours isn’t so dry or long then I imagine this would work a lot better for you.
John Frieda Beach Blonde Kelp Help Deep Conditioner (£6.29)
I have to say I was quite disappointed by this product. I work and live in varying parts of London, I am not on the beach or exposed to salt air daily, or sun, or anything beachy that would frazzle my hair. My hair is not damaged by bleach although it is blonde, and while it is dry, I would expect a deep conditioner to do something. This deep conditioner doesn’t seem to do the job at all.
After rinsing it off I felt that my hair was just as dry as before I had conditioned. The second time I tried this it was exactly the same, to the point where I had to use a different conditioner after as I couldn’t deal with my hair being like straw, as it was the first time I had used it, and that was even after trying to salvage the dryness with some extension hair oil from Easilocks. While this might be conditioning enough for someone with short thin hair, it definitely does not deep condition. Another bugbear was that this tub of conditioner lasted two uses. Which isn’t very economical.
Overall
I like the idea of these products more than the reality. I like the scent, the packaging is cute and I really like the shampoo. For my hair type I found both conditioners were under par.
I recommend the shampoo but neither the Conditioner nor the Deep Conditioner. From the recent shampoo and conditioner ranges I have trialled it does seem that ‘you get what you pay for’ is quite true with hair products, these products are quite economical and have had a fairly poor review, whereas the products that are double or triple the price have been much better.
