Last weekend I was very fortunate to go somewhere super exciting. I went to meet with the Makeup Artists from The Iver Academy, which is a professional hair and makeup studio which will be based at the legendary Pinewood Studios and offering courses from September.

The Iver Academy offers hair and make-up courses to students who want to learn alongside the best tutors in the film, TV and theatre business. The tutors at the Iver Academy kindly invited a few girls along to their blogger open day and taster session.
Luckily it was on a Saturday so I could attend, I love makeup courses or makeovers so I couldn’t wait! I got to choose a make-up look, anything I wanted, So I chose Queen Cersai from Game of Thrones, and got to be made up as my favourite TV character.

All of the tutors at The Iver Academy have taught at the renowned Greasepaint make-up school and have over twenty years of experience working with world-class actors such as Daniel Craig, Penelope Cruz, Meryl Streep & Dame Judi Dench and also working on production sets including Game of Thrones, Avengers and Pirates of the Caribbean.
The event allowed me to witness first-hand the skills of professional hair and make-up artistry and learn some tricks of the trade that I can now practise at home. They also gave us some goodies, a lip and concealer palette (so handy) and some fake blood so I can practise my Halloween makeup, so I shall review them at a later date.
I am not sure if the other girls had any fake cuts or prosthetics applied as I was busy chatting my lovely makeup artist Paula’s ear off, and she applied a fake cut to my arm, which really freaked everyone out in the pub later on. I left it on to see if anyone believed it was real and they all did (hahaha) I’m so mean. Paula is currently working with the brilliant Renata Gilbert who has worked on the real Game Of Thrones TV show.

The Iver Academy provides courses for those that want to work in makeup artistry and from what I saw you can learn an awesome amount from the tutors and learn about hair (even beards) and prosthetics as well as all types of makeup. MUA’s who have been taught by the tutors setting up The Iver Academy have gone on to work on Vogue Shoots and for many different films, so while the courses do seem quite expensive, I think it would be money well spent.

Overall I had a fabulous and exciting day and I was so pleased to be asked to go. It was great to meet everyone and the other blogger’s looked fabulous with all of their different looks too.
