It’s always a good idea to switch up your skincare once the seasons change to keep that glowing summer
complexion throughout the dark days of autumn and winter.
To get a head start, put cleansing and exfoliating at the top of your to-do list. This will give you a silky smooth base. Start off with a cleansing balm and massage into the skin to melt away makeup whilst nourishing the skin. Then remove with a flannel and warm water.
I have been loving the luxurious texture of the Pixi Beauty Nourishing Cleansing Balm. It starts off thick then melts when you massage it in to a gorgeous oil which melts away all of your makeup. It even removes thick mascara. It’s amazing for dry and dehydrated skin and contains sweet almond oil, cocoa butter and shea butter. The price is a big plus for me. My usual cleansers are £36-46 and this retails at just £18 for a big tub that will last a couple of months. If you are having a very bad attack of dry skin apply this in the same way you would apply Vaseline. For example around your nose if you have a cold, so it’s an amazing multipurpose product.
The next step is to use an acid toner such as Pixi Glow Tonic. An amazing product loved by a myriad of beauty bloggers for the simple fact that it does what it says on the bottle. It’s a simple toner, contains 5% glycolic acid and gently exfoliates your skin. Without having to use a scratchy exfoliator to keep your skin glowing. This is definitely a beauty secret of mine (well a secret from my IRL friends, not you obviously)!
The final step is moisturiser. I suggest replacing your night time moisturiser with something richer and to incorporate a serum and/or oil. Your skin will thank you for it by looking hydrated and plumped. I stick to a serum in the morning and the oil in the evening just because it’s easier to apply makeup over a serum rather than an oil. For your morning pre-makeup moisturiser I recommend using a radiance boosting moisturiser that will blur imperfections and make your skin glow.
The radiance boosting moisturiser I have been using is Pixi Beauty Glowtion Day Dew, it’s lightweight but still hydrating and contains some very subtle shimmery particles so when your foundation is applied over the top you get an extremely subtle glow that just makes it look like your skin is fresh and healthy rather than shimmery. One of the ingredients is silicone so it smooths your skin and works as a primer as well as a moisturiser so a great double duty product.
I have been enjoying using the Pixi Beauty Rose Oil Blend. It’s thicker than my other facial oils, you can massage it in for longer, it feels like it is doing the job. I am not quite sure what exactly the difference in ingredients is between this and other rose facial oils. This not only smells nicer and costs less, it mixes well with lots of other products such as foundation and moisturisers and doesn’t break me out.
Overall I have been extremely impressed with all of the Pixi Beauty products that I have tried. The packaging is great, the makeup is well formulated with great pigmentation and the skincare works well for me. I would definitely suggest taking a look at their website and giving something a go from their brand. I have repurchased the nourishing cleansing balm already for when I run out. I had to replace the oil after I clumsily smashed mine. It’s a brand I am happy to spend my own money on.
