Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation Review
Say hello to the Becca Aqua Luminous Foundation! I think it’s obvious if I’m talking about it that I bloody love it but it’s for some quite specific reasons:
- Lasts all day
- Gives a luminous, glowing complexion
- Has a natural looking finish
- Weightless, you totally forget you are wearing foundation
- Doesn’t settle into pores or any fine lines
- Covers redness around the nose even though its sheer
- Doesn’t dry out my skin
- Doesn’t cause any allergies or sensitivity
So It’s Perfect?
While all of the above sounds wonderful there are a couple of points that need to be made. This is a foundation for the normal to dry skinned person. If you have combination or oily skin you’re going to get and look greasy after a few hours. This is probably one of the reasons why, for me with dry skin, it means it doesn’t settle into pores, lines or dry my skin out. So if you’re thirty plus and/or have super dry skin then it’s amazing.
This is not good for very pale skin. The shades do come up darker than expected and there are only 8 shades available. I have medium and use it either mixed with a bb cream with a high SPF (which I need) or on its own after I fake tan. I definitely should have bought one 2 shades lighter.
There is no pump, rather a stupid dropper in the lid. I ignore the dropper and just pour some onto the back of my hand. But give us a flipping pump Becca!
Other Thoughts
This reminds me a lot of the old Chanel Aqua Lumiere foundation. I’ll never understand what Chanel was thinking getting rid of that, none of their foundations are as good! This is very similar to how that used to be. It’s the light, non-cakey, glowing finish that looks and feels natural that I love.
I bought this at least 2 months ago and wear it generally every few days. You could layer it on to get a full coverage, or just leave it at one coat. It’s just like your skin but after that good-good snap chat filter. You know the one that makes you look thinner and with a smaller nose? Without the crown!
As you can see below I don’t have identifiable foundation on. However the Becca AL had been on all day, it was about 11pm at that point and I was a bit …. tipsy as I refuse to have my picture taken at all times unless I am too drunk to care (or to know where the hell I got that hat..it’s not mine)! Most of my other makeup had rubbed off, but the foundation was going strong.
I have tried applying it with a brush and with my Beauty Blender and I have concluded that it’s much of a muchness really. The ‘toothbrush’ style Artis dupe brushes are the best brushes to use and the beauty blender works well as always. I use MUFE HD setting powder every day anyway, and it works well with this foundation.
I would definitely be interested to see how this performs in heat and humidity so will have to take it on my travels. Obviously, Becca is an Australian brand, so hopefully it should work well. I shall update the next time I go somewhere more tropical!
The Roundup
This looks natural, whilst blurring any blemishes and neutralising redness to create a light-reflective, ‘airbrushed’ look. But more importantly, it gives a youthful luminosity (without a trace of tell-tale glitter). One to add to the shopping cart!
