Viktor and Rolf Bonbon Couture Perfume
Viktor and Rolf Bonbon Couture Perfume is a new fragrance from Viktor and Rolf, who also created the famous Flowerbomb perfume. This perfume reportedly intensifies “the original’s gourmand notes for an intense and luxurious effect”.
Bonbon Couture was developed by perfumers Cécile Matton and Serge Majoullier. The notes feature mandarin, neroli, peach, orange blossom, jasmine, caramel, patchouli, sandalwood, amber, vanilla and tobacco. Housed in the familiar twisted candy shaped glass bottle it now has a deeper purple-red toned center fading into a matte pink. It will be available in 30ml and 50ml versions of Eau de Parfum Intense.
What Does It Smell Like?
Bonbon Couture, to all intents and purposes, probably should have been called Sugarbomb Couture. It is exceedingly sweet and smells very much like caramel.
The notes that make up the fragrance, listed above, are only really detectable in the dry down. It is very sweet from the first spray until you shower in the evening. The lasting power is good, and I definitely didn’t need to top up. In fact to start with it was pretty strong.
Is It Similar To Any Other Perfumes?
Bonbon Couture definitely reminds me of the celebrity fragrance by Britney Spears called Fantasy the most. It also reminds me slightly of one of the Juicy Couture perfumes. I think this is a fragrance for either adults who love very sweet, foody scents or a younger audience to that who enjoy Flowerbomb. This is more of a winter scent in my opinion, to wear for those chilly evenings when you need a bit of perking up.
My Verdict
I am so-so on this perfume. I don’t dislike it and I do like the scent of the dry-down but the initial notes are just too strong for me. I prefer something more along the lines of Tom Ford Black Orchid or Agent Provocateur perfume Maitresse on the perfume front. My favourite thing about the perfume is the bottle, it’s just so cute!
