Empties and Quick Reviews 1
I recently started reading a great blog by Siobhán called beautylymin.com. Her empties posts have been so interesting to me, I had thought those kind of posts were a bit boring before if I’m honest. Feeling inspired, I dug around my apartment and actually found quite a few empties that I have accumulated over the last month. So here are my speedy reviews on each of them, whether I would or would not buy them again and why. Definitely check out Siobhán’s blog if you don’t read it already.
I’ve been completely exhausted lately so I used all three sets of these undereye masks within 10 days of getting the packet. The are cooling and soothing for the 20 minutes that they are on, but that’s about it. Overall I did think that these are a lot cheaper than a lot of brands out there, so worth giving a go if you want to try them out but don’t want to spend more than £5. I wouldn’t repurchase, because they didn’t really do that much. They also claim to be anti ageing but…well they aren’t lol!
For me, this is a good body polish to use in the summer when I’m fake tanning. I like the packaging, the scent of the product and how it works. It isn’t strong enough for me to use in Autumn and Winter as well, as my skin gets so dry and flaky it can’t deal with it. I enjoy using this product but will wait until next Summer and probably repurchase then. I have the Garnier oil body scrub on the go at the moment to review. It’s cheaper to get this from allbeauty (link in title) as it’s a couple of pounds cheaper than Boots.
I am devastated I have run out of this as it is pricey to replace. There’s nothing for me to dislike about it and will definitely repurchase as I don’t have a backup right now but I also want to try one of the Dr Lancer scrubs. I am having a dilemma which one to get! I had to cut the end off of the tube to try and scrape out the last bits as I was so desperate. This is perfect for those of us that get a lot of dry skin on their face and neck and/or a lot of blocked pores. This leaves my skin soft and smooth and a little goes a long way. Must have product.
This is probably the fastest I have ever used up a lip product in my life. It does feel incredibly soothing on dry and chapped lips. While this does mean that yes I really love this product, I really hate the applicator, I hate the tiny amount you get in the tube and the fact that it’s so thick and gloopy when your tube starts to get empty. You can’t get any out unless you melt it in a mug of hot water. Who has time for that? Not me! So while I love the product, the packaging means that no, I won’t be repurchasing it. Unless they put it in a tube at some point in future. Annoying.
I got this perfume in a gift set, I’ve only had one other Jo Malone cologne before, also a gift. The reason I never repurchase is because they cost £43 for 30ml but they aren’t strong enough for me to spray just once or twice, I end up using 4-5 spritzes every time, so they don’t last very long. It works out cheaper to buy a bottle of Tom Ford Black Orchid (my fave). I only need 1-2 spritzes of that and it really lasts. So while the Jo Malone English Pear and Freesia cologne is a very pretty scent, and I do really like it. It’s not good value enough for me to buy myself, so I’d be happy if I got it as a gift. But wouldn’t pay for it myself.
Possibly the worst expensive shampoo I have ever used. Did nothing. It made my hair extensions dry and crispy and my own hair as well. I’ve just been using it to wash my makeup brushes until it ran out. Absolutely would never repurchase.
As promised, this mascara really thickens and lengthens lashes well. However, the formula is quite thick and clumpy, more so than I believe the non-waterproof original version. Since it is waterproof I found it really hard to remove. I don’t think I would repurchase this version in future, I would stick to the regular version in the pink tube. Right now I am debating about buying the Charlotte Tilbury or Marc Jacobs mascaras to see if they are any better so no, I probably won’t repurchase.
This is the perfect pinky nude ‘your lips but better’ shade for me. It’s really moisturising and doesn’t feel sticky all. I like that when you first apply it, it feels slightly cool and tingly/minty. Good pigmentation, lovely packaging and beautiful colour. This is a really nice everyday shade to use for work, I can pop it on in a rush in the lift or at my desk. I will definitely repurchase this.
I was very impressed with the Gucci Face Lustrous Glow foundation. The quality is great, the finish is light but flawless and the packaging beautiful. I have been transitioning from more of a foundation to a BB cream or tinted moisturiser finish to try and maintain a youthful look to my skin. So I may repurchase sometime in the future if I need a foundation, as this is a great one. But I don’t need one right now especially as at this time of the year my skin will get so dry, foundation doesn’t do me any favours.
This spray is a beaut. I’ve not used that many Kiehl’s products before but I have been really impressed. I use this either alone when my face is sore and dry, or after foundation to make it look dewier. This is one of my absolutely favourites facial sprays and I can’t say enough good things about it. This is great to use if you work in an office with aircon or if you have sore skin from eczema or sunburn. I will absolutely repurchase this after I have used a few more of the other sprays I currently have (I have a ridiculous amount). I will hopefully be posting a review of my fave facial mists on the blog very soon.
So a mixture of some goodies, some baddies and one thing I would feel generous giving a zero out of ten. I hope you enjoyed me posting something different, have you used up any products this month?
