NYX Strobe Of Genius Palette

Review and Swatches

Introducing the Strobe of Genius Palette, which, incredibly, was the first NYX item I had ever tried! I know I know but I have never had anywhere nearby with NYX in store so I could have a play about until recently. They’re finally in my local Boots, yay!

What’s The Palette About?

The NYX Strobe of Genius palette contains only highlighters, all designed to give you everything needed to achieve: strobing. Can someone please confirm this has gone back to being called highlighting again now? Finally? Thanks. This palette features seven buttery-smooth shades with different levels of illumination.

My Thoughts – NYX Strobe Of Genius Palette Review

The palette contains a great range of highlighters. There are warm and cool toned shades.  I think they would suit most skin tones. They aren’t blindingly glowing, the bottom right-hand side one is the most obvious. The pinks are the most subtle, great for every day or if you love a lot of highlight they all layer really well.

I wasn’t too sure about the palette at first but after using for a couple of weeks I really love it. A little goes a long way and some of the colours can be used as eyeshadows too. They are not glittery at all just shimmery and some metallic.

Which Colours Are Your Faves?

Top colours I use are the pinks on the top row as a blush and highlight combo look. I use the bottom row far right as a highlight for the cheekbone or temple area or in the cupids bow. Sometimes I use the lilac if I am using a cool pink blush.  The darker bronzey gold shades I tend to use more as eyeshadows, they’re nice and metallic and last all day.

How To Use

I like to apply these with a small fan brush for an everyday look. To get a blinding strobe effect use one of these styles of brushes.  Anything larger and it won’t fit into each pan of colour and you’ll pick up ones to the side.

Lightly buff the shimmer shades onto the highest points of the face including the temples, brow bone, cheekbones, nose, cupids bow, and chin. To achieve an ultra-strobe effect, layer over a liquid or cream highlight.

Where to Buy

They sell NYX in some freestanding Boots stores or online at Boots for £15. You can also buy from Asos and some other places but it costs a pound more, and I don’t really understand why!

What’s your favourite NYX product? Should I try lip products next?
