Pixi + Aspyn Ovard Collaboration | Glow-y Powder & Eye Accents: Review and Swatches

Today I’m sharing with you the Aspyn Ovard products created in collaboration with Pixi beauty.  Aspyn Ovard created 3 Glowy Powders, (one cheek powder and two powder highlighters).  And also the Eye Accents Kit.

This season, Pixi Beauty decided, for its spring collection, to collab with four of the biggest beauty bloggers in the game—Caroline Hirons, Judy Travis, Maryam Maquillage, and Aspyn Ovard, to co-create limited-edition products for the brand. First up we have Aspyn Ovard.

The Glow-y Powders come in three shades.  London Lustre   a pale iridescent gold, Rome Rose – a more gold, less rose version of Mac’s Studio Rose,  and Santorini Sunset, a mid-toned gold sheen. I have swatched all three shades above from darkest to lightest. As you can see, London Lustre is very subtle. Rome Rose is quite a shimmery blush colour. And Santorini Sunset is the most shimmery highlight in the Aspyn Ovard Collaboration.

My Thoughts

I like the shades available but would only wear Santorini Sunset and Rome Rose. I really like both shades, and you can even layer them as Rome Rose is more of a blush colour.

The formulation of London Lustre was a little chalky which caused it to look a bit odd. The product could do with being more ‘buttery’ so the product could adhere better to the face.  You do get a lot of product for your money. Overall they do seem like nice pretty powders, but I don’t personally recommend London Lustre.

Perfect for the girl on-the-go.  The Eye Accents Precision Mascara & Clear Brow Gel duo is essential for low-maintenance or low-time ladies. The Lower Lash Mascara is perfect for itsy bitsy lashes.  It’s water resistant, smudge free and managed to perk up my lower lash line without clumping or flaking.   The tiny wand lets you get right in close to the lash line for precision.

The Clear Brow Tamer has a great solid brush to help groom brows and the gel sets them in place. There is no stickiness or stiffness at all. It makes taming strays in a hurry so easy you don’t really need a mirror.

Thoughts on the Aspyn Ovard Collaboration

While I really liked ideas behind the collab, the shades, names and types of products I think there could be improvements. It would be handy if the lower lash mascara was a double ended one with a regular mascara. That would make it a 2-in-1 for travel. I would also prefer the formulation of the Glow-y powders to be more buttery and come in a pot with a flip-up lid. For the price, however,  I was impressed by all of the products and the amounts you get for your money.

My recommendation for something to purchase from this range would be the Rome Rose Glow-y Powder.

Have you tried any of these products? What did you think?
