Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Range Review

I’ve used Kiehl’s cult Midnight Recovery Concentrate for ages, and now there are the additions to the range, woop woop! The new items are the Midnight Recovery Eye Cream and the Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil. So instead of just 1 facial oil, it’s now the perfect night time routine. The range is formulated to be used at night before bedtime to make your skin look fabulous overnight.

The Midnight Recovery Range

The three products are formulated to work in conjunction to form your night time skincare dream team. The replenishing nighttime anti-ageing oil is formulated with distilled botanicals and is designed to visibly restore the appearance of skin by morning. I like using this when my skin is dry which is usually a few days after I fake tan or a few days after dermal rolling.

Midnight Recovery Oil

This isn’t a whizz-bang magic wand product but it’s deeply moisturising, doesn’t just sink in immediately and disappear, I feel like some soaks in and some sits on top of the skin which keeps my skin feeling supple as my eczema plays up this time of the year triggered by my hayfever. I mean could I have any more allergies? So the top layer of skin is so dry too that it really helps that this stays oily for me, to soothe that dryness.  Might it be too greasy for some that have normal to oily skin – yes absolutely. This is either for mature skin or very dry skin in my opinion.

Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil

The new Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil is a lightweight oil cleanser to remove make-up and impurities.  I’ve been really liking this for taking off my makeup at the end of the day. I tried the Pixi Beauty double cleanse last month and, to be honest. I just couldn’t be bothered using two cleansers, a toner, a serum and a moisturiser or oil every single day. It was so much effort! I want to use 1 cleanser that gets everything off and this definitely gets rid of every scrap of makeup. I just rub it into my face and then wipe off with a warm damp flannel and then move onto a toner.

The pump bottle is huge and this will last ages. I use 1-2 pumps to clean my face each time. Overall this is my favourite item in the range and the best value for money. The cleanser is made from an aromatic blend of pure botanical oils: Squalane, a planted-derived lipid with a natural affinity for skin; evening primrose oil, rich in Omega-6 Fatty Acids; and lavender essential oil so it’s not only a great product, it smells like a spa treatment product as well. It’s soap-free, sulphate-free and mineral oil-free as well.

Midnight Recovery Eye cream

The last product is the Midnight Recovery Eye cream. I’ve tried loads of eye creams over the years to soothe my eyes. I work long hours and late nights so my eyes are tired and puffy when I take my makeup off. My hayfever makes my eyes sore and I sometimes get eczema around them if it’s a really bad hayfever week. I have been using this cream for a few weeks now and I really like it.

It absorbs quickly and doesn’t make my eyes sting which the facial oil does as it’s stronger so I apply this first to create a barrier which works perfectly. It keeps the skin smooth and soft and the hydrating effect makes your eye area skin look more youthful.  The cream doesn’t contain anything that can reverse wrinkles or reduce them so be aware that if you have lines you may wish to use something stronger. The hydrating effect is what will temporarily improve the look of the area. I am happy to use this in conjunction with my Fillerina eye cream on days I need a bit more hydration and if my dark circles are really bad.

Overall Thoughts On The New Items

Overall the must-have item for me is the Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil. It removes every last scrap of makeup from your face without the need to double cleanse. It comes in a large pump bottle so you don’t get oil everywhere,  great if you’re messy like me! I also love the relaxing botanical/essential oil scent and do think that it helps you feel sleepy when you use it before bed time.
