MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lip Colours Spring 2017

MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lip Colours

Spring 2017

Mac Retro Matte Liquid Lip Colour

As much as everyone loves a matte finish liquid lipstick, for those of with lip moisture issues, they can be very drying. Long lasting lip shades are amazing but if they make your mouth look dry and wrinkled, it’s not a great look. It can be a hard task to find a well-pigmented product that is long-lasting but non-drying.

MAC launched new shade extensions of the Retro Matte Liquid Lip colour range, which originally launched last January. Retro Matte Liquid Lip colour is MAC’s liquid lipstick formula. There are 12 new shades with this extension, and nine will be added to the permanent range. They have a pointed sponge applicator with a hole in the centre that holds the product for full saturated colour in one swipe.  They cost £17.50 each and are available at counters, stands in department stores or online here at Mac Cosmetics.

Isn’t the Box Adorable?

I was sent this adorable box with some of the new shades of Retro Matte Liquid Lip Colours and, while the colours aren’t really ‘my shades’, it has definitely shown that the formulation and pigmentation is very impressive and I will pick up some colours that are more suited to my complexion and personal taste to review soon.

Obviously, shades are just a personal taste so I still wanted to show and swatch them for anyone that loves them. I wore one of them to work all day, just to see how it wore. Although I will admit I did get a few funny looks as it’s a far cry from my normal nude lippy or gloss!  I really think these shades would look amazing on those with darker skin tones than mine especially the gorgeous red.

I didn’t have expectations for the MAC formula as I hadn’t read any reviews about them, but surprisingly the retro matte lip colours wear comfortably on the lips all day without drying or settling into your lip lines to give that ever so unattractive look.  The colour dried quickly and it was very easy to apply. I really like the applicator and it went on smoothly and ‘set’ on the lips with no flaking or patchiness. The colour did last all day until I took it off around 5pm.

New Mac Retro Matte Lip Colour Shades

From top to bottom the shades are:

  1. Caviar
  2. Kabuki Gray
  3. Café au Chic
  4. Simply Smoked
  5. Carnivorous

Let me know if you have any of these lip colours and what shades you have as I definitely need some recommendations of ones that I can buy that are more pink, red or nude! xx
