Belle Gel Kit Review

Having tried a lot of the salon professional gel polishes, kits and lamps I do like to try out the ‘at home’ versions to see if they are as good as they make out, or as good as the ones in the salon.  The reason being that it is SO much harder to do your own nails than to do someone else’s, the angles are just wrong so if the kit isn’t even half as good as a salon kit then I see it difficult to be able to get a perfect finish.

Belle Gel have created an affordable home gel manicure kit which is made for anyone who wants a longer lasting manicure.  As with all gel polishes the design is to held your nails grow underneath while the top stays coloured and shiny and perfect for much longer than nail varnish.

The benefits of this kit are that you can do your manicure at any time of the day or night, you don’t have to make an appointment or pay for petrol, parking or bus fare, the infills or removal and you can also get a friend to help you and do their nails in return.

Before – Mums Hands

After- Mums Nails

The kit has been well thought out and everything you need from prep products, to the gels themselves, to the lamp, brush etc. are all given their own little space in a brilliant two drawer set that means you don’t have to find somewhere else to store the kit.  The lamp is small and easy to use and the brush is a 2 in 1 cuticle tool and brush, both super space saving.

There are a few things that I did find quite annoying with this kit.  The first was that you have to cure different fingers after painting them, you can’t just paint 1 coat on one hand then cure that like with say Shellac or other brands of kits you can get in Boots or on QVC, so it’s a bit time consuming and annoying.  Another problem with the gel itself, as you can see above, after 3 coats of the colour it is still really sheer and it’s shrunk back from the tips which usually happens with gel rather than gel polish.  The gel is in a pot rather than in a nail varnish style bottle so it’s a faff to use with the brush in comparison to a nail varnish style bottle and fiddly with your non dominant hand.

Overall I wouldn’t really recommend this kit as it is now.  If the gel itself would be better and give a better finish then I would be happy to recommend it as the design and idea of the kit is great but not as it is currently.

The kit is available here http://www.bellegel.co.uk/ for £59.95
