Illamasqua Freak (C’est Chic)

A sample vial of Illamasqua’s new perfume offering landed on my desk and as usual I grabbed it out of the box and sprayed it onto my wrist immediately.  The scent is called Freak and the packaging is a purple slanted bottle with a small silver snail decorating the side as you can see from the picture above (mine was just in a clear glass bottle so no point in photographing).

I LOVE the image for the perfume

The overwhelming feeling upon the first spritz was ‘oh my god this smells just like the perfume that my mum used to wear when I was little’!

Scents evoke such powerful memories I really knew it must have similar notes to one of her perfumes, I am thinking possibly YSL Rive Gauche as it’s quite a sexy and dark frangrance like Freak which contains notes of Black Davana, Opium Flower, Datura and Myrrh.

I am sure my mum will find this funny to read but I was obsessed by all of her hair stuff, lotions, potions, lipsticks and perfumes when I was small and to  be honest, have been in love with all such girly goodies ever since.

I really love this perfume for the fact it reminds me of my mum, it also makes me think of the 80’s which will sound weird unless you are my age or older and give it a sniff.  I am not sure if I would have picked this perfume to try out because of the name, but based on the scent, imagery and packaging then yes I definitely would.

Available for pre-order today from the Illamasqua website or launched on 20th October £59 for 75ml EDP
