I know Eco Certified products or products that are natural and organic in some way are probably going to be better for my skin and wellbeing, but sometimes I get distracted by pretty packaging and glamorous colours like a magpie!
But currently I am being sensible and this is another certified organic product. It also the third in my series of fat/cellulite-busting products however this comes more under the sub-section of strechmarks.
Melvita’s Rosehip Seed oil is a rejuventating the skin and supporting collagen and reducing signs of ageing. This in turn helps to reduce stretchmarks, scars and in general promotes skin repair so that sounds good to me.
As a quick update over the weeks that I have been trialling all of the different products I think so far there has been a massive improvement in my circulation due to the massaging of my thighs morning and evening with the different products.
Melvita’s Rosehip Seed Oil is from the first cold press of the seeds (so they are more potent), is a natural and eco certified organic product (by Ecocert France) and 99.8% of the ingredients are from organic farming. So far so impressive.
How to use:
Massage gently into skin on face or body to keep skin supple and improve elasticity.
I used this on my hips, thighs and boobs (no this was not just an excuse to massage them) as this product is good for scars I thought I would see if it would make a difference to my already very pale scars.
Consistency
The consistency is similar to bio oil, it took longer to sink in than some other products I have used but it wasn’t a gross feeling and was lovely to apply as it didn’t feel greasy. Unlike bio oil it does not feel sticky after it is massaged in. The colour is a very luminous orange but once it’s rubbed in this goes away – you won’t look like a carrot!
Packaging
Very plain, a clear bottle with a handy pump dispenser so you can pump it directly onto your body. I like that the bottle is clear as you can see how much you have left and the pump dispenser gives the perfect amount for one area, it also means you can apply the product with one hand and use the dispenser to squirt the product directly onto your body so both of your hands aren’t oily.
Scent
The scent isn’t super strong which is nice, sometimes oils can be a bit overpowering and it just smells of rosehip seeds lol!

Did it make any difference
Now this did make a difference, but not quite how I was expecting! Firstly I had been using a little on the old boobs just to see if it made any difference to the scars and Oh My God! even after just 3 days of using this the scars were looking brilliant, now they are from December 2008 so they are not new scars and I have healed very well, but the ones underneath are now almost invisible after twice-daily use for 10 days and I am very impressed, the oil does seem to be much more potent than other scar oils that I have used in the past and I think this must be because it is from the first press of the seeds.
I have subsequently done some research into rosehip seed oil in general and found the following website mountainroseherbs (not affiliated with this site I found it through google) which really explains it’s benefits fully.
Since reading the above mentioned page I have also started using the oil on my face where I get my eczema around my eyes before my moisturiser and it is really helping the skin stay hydrated all day long without being greasy (I wouldn’t recommend it to those with oily skin or acne) and I am loving how it is making my eye area look. Apparently the smoother skin is due to the essential fatty acids and vitamin E in the oil.
You can also use this oil on psoriasis, burns, uv damage, brittle nails, age spots and even in your hair!
As £18 is rather pricey (understandably since it’s a quality product) I think I would keep this for use on my scars, face and hair rather than large areas such as my thighs and bum, as while I did see benefits to the stretchmarks (which are old silvery white stretchmarks) I think there are products available that are more cost effective (as I used 2/3 of this bottle in 10 days as I have loads of stretchmarks) so I have made the executive decision to keep this for my boobs and face!
Did you know about the benefits of rosehip seed oil? I had never heard of it before!
