Buying deodorant is never an exciting thing and I just generally grab whatever Dove, Sure or similar spray is on special offer at the shop on the day I need some. However, my horrendous train line that I use to commute daily to work (Southeastern) have been even more appalling than ever and have had their heating on every single morning all through the year, yes even May through to September.
Sweating on the commute, hellish as it already is, made my mornings very depressing and I really was literally having sweat drip down my back for the entire standing journey which, due to the nearly daily delays and signal failures, is generally always at least 15 minutes longer than the advertised time.
I was in a state of panic, I don’t want to be that stinky commuter or feel and smell horrible before 9.00am and before I even get to the office. I vaguely remembered using the Sure Maximum Protection before when it was just released and noticed they had a new aerosol scent, so figured, why not test them both out and hopefully one would help me, and I could see the difference and see if the Maximum Protection one was actually any better.
The Maximum Protection is a cream, you twist the base of the tube and the cream comes out of the top and you rub it into your armpits. Don’t use too much as it’s very creamy, you can be sparing and it will still work.
You are supposed to apply the Maximum Protection before going to bed, then leave it on the next day. I thought this was pointless as I shower every morning so I just applied as normal, after my shower.
The cream dries really quickly after application, lasts me all day through the commute both ways and at the gym. I quickly realised that this stuff is a must have. I find this product amazing, I had no damp patches, no dripping sweat and no smells. This has been my favourite product this Summer and I will continue to use it and definitely take one to Hong Kong with me next month when I go with work, as it is bound to be quite hot and humid.
Sure’s regular deodorant is around half the price of the maximum protection product and, while it is a nice product for the Winter, when it’s cold or just an everyday spray, there really is no competition. You do have to top it up throughout the day once or twice so you go through it quicker. I think I will stop buying the aerosol sprays and stick to the maximum protection cream. It gives you a lot more protection, you don’t have to keep applying it and it’s overall much less of a faff.
Deodorant might be a really boring product to buy, test and read about (sorry) but everyone needs one, and this one is definitely a hidden gem so I will be making sure I always have one in the bathroom from now on.
