Body Love Firming Buttercream

Tropic Skincare

Featured today is the Tropic Skincare Body Love Firming Buttercream. Which is, basically a thick buttery body balm. Tropic Skincare is a vegan and cruelty-free brand with some awesome products owned by (rather unexpectedly) Alan Sugar and the founder, Susan Ma.

What Kind Of Skin Is This Good For

The ingredients of the Body Love Firming Buttercream include; shea butter, coconut oil, cocoa butter, macadamia oil, vitamin E and mango butter. These are all intensely moisturising ingredients so this cream is perfect for those of us who are feeling dry and crusty right now. I don’t know about you but the weather has done a number on my hands, feet and shins and I’ve been looking a bit scaly. So the buttercream Body Love Firming Buttercream was much needed!

Any Other Interesting Ingredients?

The Body Love cream contains Sea Kelp which does have some interesting properties. Kelp, taken as a vitamin supplement tablet has been shown to have antioxidant and skin-firming attributes. Kelp also contains minerals like calcium, fluorine and magnesium which can give your skin a radiant glow.

Now I have not yet noticed any real skin firming benefits of using the buttercream beyond that of any other body lotion. However, I have noticed that it gives the skin more radiance, which I definitely think is due to the sea kelp.

I’m honestly not 100% sure on the scientific studies done on kelp as what I read through was very confusing, but what I do know is this. It’s used in many Asian skincare products (and from what I have seen myself, they are way ahead of us in the UK with their skincare knowledge). And many sea algae extracts are used in very expensive skincare like the uber pricey La Mer creams. So it definitely sounds like a good ingredient to have in your skincare.

Tips For Using The Product

The first is if you’re having trouble getting it to sink into your skin and it’s a very simple one. Apply while your skin is still warm after a bath or shower, slap a bit on, start rubbing in and then grab your hairdryer! Just blast yourself with the hairdryer (not too hot obviously). This will melt all of the oils in the buttercream and help it absorb really quickly. Keep rubbing it in at the same time and it should only take 5-10 seconds.

This is for when you are having a dry skin disaster. Slap on a decent layer of the  Body Love Firming Buttercream. Wrap whatever it is, leg, foot, elbow in cling film. Cover the cling filmed area over with a warm towel to trap in the heat, use a hot water bottle on top if you have one.

Leave for as long as you can to let it sink in, at least 20 minutes. Then when you remove the towel and the cling film if there is any residue, just rub it in. Or use the hairdryer again to melt it a bit then rub in. This really helps when your skin is terribly dry and is a tip I got from a dermatologist.

I really like this body lotion for the winter months and think it would be great for others with the same dry skin issues as me. The squeezy tube means it’s easy to get the product out and you really don’t need to use a lot each time to cover a large area of skin. While £20 for a body lotion does sound expensive, when you think that just a similar sized jar of coconut oil is around £10-15 it definitely makes you realise that there are some pricey ingredients in this product so it’s definitely a good price for the quality of what you get.

Cost and Where to Purchase

The Body Love Firming Buttercream costs £20 for 250ml and can be purchased here Tropic Skincare or from an ambassador.

Did you know Tropic Skincare came about because of the TV Show The Apprentice? I had no idea!
