I Heart the High Street

More and more trendy ladies are shunning designer fashion in favour of the more affordable, but equally stylish high street clothing. Who wants to blow all their hard earned wages on labels, when the high street offers such fabulous alternatives for less than half the price? You’d have to be bonkers!

High Street stores such as New Look offer an added incentive to customers, with money off vouchers available on various sites on the Internet. A quick Google search under New Look Discount Codes will produce a handful of sites where you can often print out New Look Discount Vouchers, which you can use towards your next purchase – perfect during the summer months when everyone is saving for their holidays (plus it also gives you the perfect excuse to escape the madness of the World Cup!)

Most major high streets offer styles similar to those featured on the catwalk, and affordable replicas are often sought out by savvy females keen to show off their fashionable purchases (which is one reason why we love the high street so much). Thanks to the wide and diverse selection of fashionable items, even celebrities are often seen wearing high street clothing, many refusing to pay the extortionate prices charged for designer clothes. We are also seeing a change in the diversity of models being used to promote high street fashion. No longer are we saturated with stick-thin models, but are instead seeing an increasing number of plus-size models – which is fantastic, as lets face it, we all come in different shapes and sizes. The range of clothing high street stores are now stocking is becoming vast, with different styles, sizes and shapes available.

Fashion for summer 2010 is set to be very varied and for those who like to show a bit of flesh, you will be glad to hear that this year the theme is ‘the shorter the better.’ Key items include hot pants and shorts, with the look being topped off nicely with knee-high or over- the-knee socks. Dresses with splits are also favourable this season, as are jumpsuits and see-through fabrics. Dressing bold is best this year and dramatic styles include military, warrior and safari looks. The world of sport has influenced some of this year’s summer styles, with tennis and football-related items currently being featured on the high street (sexy crop tops and pleated skirts are all favourites).

The bigger, brighter, patterned and printed fashion is key for this summer’s stylish ladies, and the boyfriend look is a definite – oversized blazers with rolled up sleeves is a great, relaxed look for this season. Denim also makes a return again, with denim, dungarees, shirtdresses and waistcoats all featuring highly on the must-have list. Jewellery this summer should be layered and multiple bracelets are a must. Hot footwear the season ahead will consist of wedges, clogs and platform heels. Key colours for summer 2010: pastels, white, and anything bright!

Do you like using money off vouchers when buying clothes online?  I love it!
