Wicked The Musical Review

I went to see Wicked the musical on Saturday, I got the tickets as a surprise for someone else and hadn’t even really thought about what the storyline was prior to seeing it, knowing only that it was something to do with a good witch and a bad witch.

The actual storyline is of two friends who meet as sorcery students, Glenda and Elphaba, they take different paths in life and end up being the good witch (Glenda) and the wicked witch (Elphaba).  However I did presume that they were enemies throughout the show but it turned out they aren’t and it’s a really good show.  I don’t want to give away too much of the story and ruin it but it is pre Dorothy and the wizard of oz, the -pre-story.  The flying monkeys were absolutely wicked (boom boom)!

I loved everything from the acting and singing, the dancing and special effects to the set and our seats were great, if you can get S24/25 in the stalls then they are right in the middle just far back enough to be able to see everything.  I think this is probably the best West End show I have ever seen and definitely worth the rather pricey tickets.  This is one that I would recommend to anyone!

For a quick dinner prior to the show we went to dascalzo and I had a lovely spaghetti alle vongole (with chilli and clams) nom nom nom, should have taken a picture but didn’t want to look like a weirdo!

Anyone seen any good shows recently? How about the Audience with Helen Mirren?
